Not necassarily. There is a girl that I know from AA who had multiple possession charges and one DUI and was once again out driving with drugs on her and tried to outrun the cops. They caught her and put her in the backseat of the car while they searched her vehicle for drugs. They left her window down and she somehow managed to get her handcuffed hands out the window, open the door, and make a run for it! She got away from them for a time, and even watched from a neighbor's house as they went searching for her. Evidently, the neighbor helped her saw the cuffs in half and agreed to drive her back home a couple of hours later.
Too bad that the cops had roadblocks up-she was caught and then gave them fake ID telling the she was her cousin instead of herself, which didn't work, as they pulled up her sleeves and saw the sawed in half cuffs. This is a relatively small town in a state with pretty stiff consequences for possession and DUI charges. She stayed the night in the county jail, made bail, and never served another day in jail.
Great story jehza! Reads like a scene out of Cool Hand Luke, especially the part about sawing the cuffs...so would her fellow AA members at their meeting consider this as having a "slip?" Sorry, couldn't resist a bit of cavalier humor. Glad your friend only had one night in jail for that adventure...

This is how she introduced herself in the meeting It's a well known story in our little town--she has had problems with the police since this happened. Yet I still see her driving around. I actually attended the hearing with her (at the time she was trying to stay sober, but I don't know if that is the case anymore) and recieved a lot of probation. Still confused on this one, but she is likeable nonetheless. I hope she gets it straightened out.

Amy, would you mind telling us a bit more about your brother's situation? (Not trying to be nosy ... I swear!!) Like, is he getting randomly drug tested? Has he started on Suboxone or anything? What was the bail, if you don't mind my asking?
Feel free to PM me and/or tell me to "mind your own beeswax." I have a close friend going through a similar situation, and I am very curious about how the law works in different states.
Yes, he randomly gets drug tested and if drugs appear in his system, he will go back to jail.
He did not go on Suboxone or Methadone. Basically, he quit cold turkey when he was in jail and has not "converted" back.
I do see him weekly and have a good friend that is a neighbor of his, so I get the info. that I need, if needed
His tests have come back negative......so far so good.
He really does seem to be trying to get everything straight now.
Oh, they dropped his bail to $5000, at his "first appearance", while in jail.
To the other poster, he ran from the officer because he had percocets on him and obviously, he wasn't thinking straight at the time, but what's done is done. He made the wrong choice and will be paying for it for a while now.......and I agree TOTALLY with that. He did wrong and he needs to deal with the consequences.
