For me, so far, believe it or not, it is the pain associated with endometrioses that has been the worst. It is the type of pain that comes in intenses waves. Renal colic (kidney stone passing) is commonly quoted as being the worst mankind has ever had to suffer. Opioids can only reduce this pain by 3 or 4 points on the scale as it is so intense. Certain types of abdominal pain, even simple trapped wind, can be pretty bad. My intestinal adhesions were worse than the kidney stones in some ways. The opioids, however, are quite effective with this type of dull pain from internal organs. Gout is like putting your big toe joint on a golf tee and letting John Daly loose on it with his biggest driver, every heartbeat. The opioids are not great at dealing with this unless very high doses are taken. Hooray - File Manager is on this forum! I was also on bedrest for the remaining months of my pregnancy...but the worst pain I can remember is when I scratched my corneas while taking out my contacts. It didn't hurt at first, but within the hour I was begging my husband to take me to the ER. That's my vote $\:\)$

I was trying on a pair of sunglasses one day and the price tag was a hard square piece of plastic on one of the ear pieces. I jammed the glasses on and shoved that piece of plastic right into my eye. There was a doctor in my building at work and I immediately went to him. They put some drops in it and looked at it in the dark under some kind of light and could see the tear. The drops numbed it for a couple of hours and once it wore off I felt like someone was shoving an ice pick into my eyeball over and over!

It started to pass and I thought I was going to pass out. The Dr. had rxed Percocet and it didn't help at all. Luckily it only lasted about 30 minutes. I had surgery the next day. The stone was shaped like a bar-bell. I hope I never get another one. Khilee

Unfortunately one of my stones got stuck just before the bladder, causing the fluid behind it to back up. That's when they shove a metal rod into your kidney, no anaesthetic, and prod and poke for half an hour until they find the ureter, so they can pass a plastic tube through it. Plain torture, no other words. They prepared me well for it, sitting me in a side-room where they had frame on the wall with all these long metal rods lined up, waiting for you. From my knowledge, anatomically speaking, the eyes do not have a lot of pain receptors (pain nerves). *(Please correct that statement if I am wrong). So, to experience any type of Eye Pain, is to experience a major traumatic experience. And from your stories (experiences), they were Traumatic experiences. I certainly would not want to go through an Eye Injury. How much time did it take before your eyes healed and did you lose any sight as a result? Have a Pain Free Week, Snickers That's not my personal photo; in fact I had several of those strictures which they had to cut out. The blood supply to the small intestine had been cut off, so I only had a few hours left. Unfortunately, odds are that it will happen again, since it's happened 3 times already and the more they operate the more adhesions form. I didn't half lose some weight!

I had previously had a colonoscopy with fentanyl and it didn't work then either. I told them this, but it made no difference. I would rather have had 100mg IV pethidine, which always works, but they just won't change procedure.

I literally begged a doctor to kill me and put me out of my misery. He wanted to play a little game called "what if it isn't a stone but appendicitis" when I knew [censored] well what it was. My then wife screaming at the doctor while he poked and proded, me turning green, white, rolling on the floor. Finally, in goes the shot and what a difference. A couple days later, I caught the buggar while peeing in the strainers they give you. I've suffered through several of them. My last one, they did lithotripsy while I was knocked out. I awoke with a garden hose up my.... doc wanted to make sure the scar tissue healed properly. Well, the garden hose clogged from all this blood and stuff passing from the lithotripsy...so there I am, a catheter in me that is clogged and I have to pee but I can't. A couple of calls to the doc and they say it is normal, this and that,..finally I am sitting on a toilet straining to hold it cuz I gotta go..the bladder says go..I get backflow to the kidneys YOWCH and then the catheter bag starts filling up fast. Needless to say I went straight to the ER and said "get this thing out of me now"!!! I have a feeling that adhesions are a major contributor to my pain but I can't find a doctor who is even willing to go in that direction. Therefore, the hip size changes for the female, because the Pelvic Girdle separates a little bit. Is that correct? If so, I'm sure that is part of the Pain of Labor! It is available from health food suppliers; a brand name is SerraZyme. I got some then forgot about them and now they are out of date. faerie faerie GRAND Pooh-Bah Registered: 03/28/05 Posts: 5936	my absolute worst is kidney stones. i have them very frequently (twice in august alone)...prob the worst was when i let them do surgery to remove one that was obstructed? and there were some major complications...twelve years later i still haven't recovered from that surgery.
