They will have a doctor on the premises to issue the needed credentials to buy mariguana from dispensaries... and a team of expects will teach anyone interested how to grow mariguana...

Does this make MJ more legal? Will they make it or will a STOP be put on this?

I think they will certainly make it a lot farther than the grower they had bragging about how much money he makes growing in his townhouse.

I think it's a great trend and a continuation of the steam roller MMJ movement. Just wait till Nov and several legalization ballots come up to vote.

I really like what they are doing, but when you outwardly snub your nose at the DEA, they tend to take it personally. I think humility and less ego will take the movement much farther. That being said, you can't stop this train unless you're a big pharm. :-)

Does a prescription, or millions of prescriptions, to buy marijuana make marijuana a prescription drug?

I grew up in Oakland and as recently as 2k2 lived in the loft district of Jack London Square which is about a half a mile from the center of what is now known as "Oaksterdam".

Between 14th St and Grand Ave on Broadway is the epicenter of Coffee shops, schools, advocates offices, Doctors office's and Oaksterdam University. To answer Admin's question, yes it will make it to opening day, no question.

Legal?

By California state law: Yes

By Federal Law unfortunatley: No, at least not yet. From my understanding at least. If things have changed I would be happy to be told so.

I think it's a great thing, and helps many sick people, who otherwise would not be able to eat, sleep, and be dealing with debilitating pain to boot.

I hope the Fed's catch up with the State law sooner than later. It benefit's everyone. People hurting get medicine that makes their lives easier, and also, it would provide funding to the state, that they supposedly desperatley need.

It is legally a prescription drug in CA, and several other states, so no, they will not put a stop to it.

It is not Federally a legal prescription drug at this time, but the DEA has stopped (or is supposed to have stopped) interfering, arresting, and raiding in instances where state law makes it legal.

In my state where it was recently legalized, work drug place testing and MJ has become an issue.

Wonder if that will become an issue in CA?

You make a good point Meon. I have no idea what a workplace can do in a state where MJ is legalized and one who has a valid script for it. I don't live in a state that has yet legalized it so I do not see much media on that. Interesting though.

Here in California as laxed as the laws are for medicinal marijuana, if it shows up on your pre employment drug screening test, you might not be getting the job.

This link also mentions the other 12 states with Marijuana laws. I am sure there is wealth of information on this subject, here is one small article that you might find interesting.

The voters of California have voted - twice - to relax the laws concerning marijuana. But the Feds, under Bush, were gung-ho to raid the dispensaries, trash and tear down the gardens, and so on. Remember, these were the GOP folks who bleated so loudly, under Clinton, about the importance of "states' rights". But when certain states passed laws they didn't like, they had no compunctions about swaggering in and wreaking havoc, ignoring the will of voters in that state.

Now, the Justice Dept under Obama has gone so far as to say "We will not go out of our way to prosecute marijuana infractions in CA", or some such. We'll see.

In the meantime, I know plenty of Californians who now have their medical marijuana cards. This allows them to go on doing what they've always done, which is to live quietly, bother no one, and use cannabis for their illnesses. Only now, they worry much less about being harassed, arrested and prosecuted. They can possess a certain amount, and best of all, they can add a few plants to the tomatoes and zucchini in their gardens.

It may be true, as wofer says, that drug testing for employment is still a stumbling block for cannabis users. It will take time for everyone to catch up to a new day and a new situation. Change is never easy, and we're facing a lot of it these days.
