Ac/Dc in 1981, for those about to rock tour I think some band called midnight flyer opened for them. This was my 1st concert as well and I was 14 at the time too. I could have sworn it was more like 82-83 though and I was a freshman in high school. I graduated in 87. I have no idea who opened for them but I do remember Angus and the bell at the begining while they started playing Hells Bells. I also remember Angus mooning us a couple of times. I have to say though the music of my high school years was not my favorite. I did like ACDC but was not crazy abour hair bands, I kind of listened to retro music and was big time into Zepplin, The Doors, Hendrix and the Stones. I totally was into the Grunge thing in college and early 20's though and also liked going to Dead Shows. I was class of 85, yeah was dec 81 i cant remember the exact day tho. Was gonna see Genesis a few weeks later but couldnt make the concert for some reason. Wish i would have, heard it was great err i mean few weeks before the acdc concert, ug im not awake yet heh it was at the spectrum in philadelphia where did u see them? LOL....You will never believe it....I did see Genesis after ACDC and it was a great concert. Boy nothing like chatting with someone from my era, lol...So who else did you see? Lets see, I saw Iron Maiden, OZZY, Rainbow, Quiet Riot(lol). Jeez, I sound like a total metal head but really I'm not. Like I said I was not the hugest fan of my high school years music. I did not like hair bands, especially Bon Jovi, lol...I was not crazy about Motley Crue either.I loved the late 70's and early 80's though, especially when MTV first started. I turned that station on and never turned it off again for like 4 years, lol... I loved David Bowie during that time and bands like the Cars. Then when the grunge movement hit in the early 90's, I was all over that, and I also loved going to Dead Shows too, especially at Soldier Field in Chicago!!! Anyway it's ben great reminicing(SP) with you!!! I almost forgot to answer you question...I saw ACDC in Peoria Illinois at the Civic Center. Did Farm Aid come to your area? That was another awesome concert event I went to.

Steppenwolf, Summer of '69. They were still big then because of Easy Rider. Only went because a girl wanted to go. Come to think of it, I did everything because of "a girl" at that age ? Concert was in War Memorial Coliseum in the city. Seating, about 8,000. Big names seldom came here. Doesn't matter which city, cause they're all the same, right ? Just another small southern town. Now, here is the funny part. The concert almost didn't happen because the City Fathers found out there were "dirty words" in some of their songs. Kay agreed not to sing the "dirty words", so the show went on. Guess he was pretty smart and knew what would happen ? When the band played "The Pusher", 8,000 kids screamed "God D*#M the Pusher Man." The City Fathers flipped and banned the band from returning. Didn't really matter, as the big bands began using a larger arena in a nearby town. Incredible to see how times have changed in my lifetime. Swearing is now common at town council meetings as they try to balance the budget, what with all our industry gone and even our bank became a house of ill repute. Whoops, off topic there. Steppenwolf didn't sound as good live as on their records. Could have been the acoustics of the old coliseum ? Wish I had seen Skynyrd before the crash and heard Duane Allman before his crash. Good Topic ! Thanks Everyone.

Most people travel to see concerts. I don't think it was a bad question at all. I didn't mean it in a smart-alec (I know thats a word, but I'm not sure how to spell it, spell check isn't helping, haha) way. please don't take offense to it. but I seen them in St. Louis Fox Theatre, don't remember the year, but it was October 30th. for the Guns, God, Government tour. I went with two really, REALLY hot girls, I think I was 15 at the time of seeing them. which would've made it year 2000, as I'm 24 years old now.

I've seen plenty of local band shows, but I'd say my first big concert thats worth mentioning was Marilyn Manson, on the "guns, god, government" world tour. probably in the year 2000. but I had been to plenty of local band shows in VFW halls, or bars before that, but I'm not counting that. I saw Manson open up for Nine Inch Nails in, i think, 1994? This was around the time "Portrait of an American Family" came out. I had never heard of the band, but Manson came on stage and started the show by reciting an excerpt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and stripped down almost completely naked except for a big black stovepipe hat, a black cane and a large black....ummm how shall we say...wearable phallus. And they rocked! And I thought Black Sabbath had the scariest music I ever heard! This was also the infamous show where Courtney Love (post-Kurt-blowing his brains out) was a total train wreck, flashed the audience several times and jumped into the crowd to surf wearing nothing but a miniskirt and no panties. Appropriately titled, this was the first leg of Nine Inch Nails "Downward Spiral" tour. Ahhh...memories.

Wow murbella, you really go for the "old school" don't you?
I am one of those old folks who scorn equally old bands touring...for example, The Sex Pistols played San Francisco for their last concert as it turns out; I lived in LA, and couldn't get up there to see them (damn I was pizzed at the time), but I sure wouldn't pay to see them now...in their 50's, and fat old wrecks, nosirree, rock n'roll should be played by the young (I know plenty of people disagree with me.) The Last Concert I went to was Chris Isaak in the mid-90's, and he was great (and, in small world territory, his bassist at that time used to be in a SF Punk Band I used to see in the '70's called The Avengers.)

Oh yea, it was Count Basie. I was going to say; just how old & worn are you? BUT, I had no idea he was active up till then. Bio: "Basie led the band into the 1970s. Basie made a few more movie appearances, such as the Jerry Lewis film Cinderfella (1960) and the Mel Brooks movie Blazing Saddles (1974), playing his arrangement of "April in Paris". cool!

Pink Floyd was a really good chillin' concert! I remember the tix were 45.00 and that was a lot back then. With all the smoke, the lasers throughout the show looked awesome. I'm surprised I still remember any of it though, lol.
I went to a lot of concerts as a kid. My BF had a good job and his mom had speed redial at her work. Pretty snazzy for then. I've seen Heart, Pat Benatar, Ozzy, Ted Nugent, Van Halen, Foghat (sort of - I fell down a flight of stairs while drunker than a skunk), etc... Too many to list.
I started not getting into Rush so much when they changed producers with the Subdivision Album. I still think they are amazing, such sound for 3 people. OH, yeah, Triumph, another 3 person band from Canada, saw them a few times too, prolly with Rush, I don't remember every detail.
