My doctor has switched me to nucytna from norco & Tramadol, seems to be working on the pain but makes me tired anyone else have this reaction? Can you buy this med online?

just wanted to point it out that both of you spelled it wrong.
its nucynta, I was having a hard time finding any info on it at first.
looks like its a somewhat weaker opioid (if it even is one) but also works with seratonin and norepenephrine to reach same analgesic effects as hydrocodone and oxycodone.
I've taken SSRI's in the past with scary results, so I think I'd personally not touch this.

This med is pure junk! Nothing more than a jacked up Ultram. My pain med doc just put me on nucynta 3 days ago.... does not work! I was told by doc it was stronger than the, 7.5 200 vico, and the 20mg oxycontin that i had been taking. The biggest bunch of junk i,ve heard in a long time. Long story short.... this med is garbage. Hope i helped.

I dont think it works on my pain like the doctor said it would, I still have pain and it makes me tired! I am going to ask to be put back on my norco! "DeeRock what do you mean when you said "if it is one" meaning the nucynta an opioid.? My doctor said it is an opioid and it is also schedule2

nothing that I read says it is an opioid. I"m reading it has opioid and non opioid activity.

It is most often referred to as a partial mu opioid agonist thus is considered in the definition of an opioid. I've also seen it described as an opioid analgesic and even a narcotic pain reliever. The DEA scheduling regarding abuse potential leaves little doubt that it has been placed squarely in the classification containing morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, hydrocodone and similar opioid agonists.

I asked my PM about Nucynta and he indicated that it is best used in patients with nerve pain, and not specifically helpful for other patients.
Below is the thread that was started a few months ago on Nucynta. DB member Pillar had some good luck with it, and would probably be better able to comment on it.
