6mg daily to 4mg daily is a huge jump with this drug. It should be done much more slowly because, although clonazepam has a long half-life, it has no clinically significant metabolites. Once it leaves your body, that's it.

Diazepam, on the other hand, has active metabolites that become effective with time, and linger around such that it is easier to withdraw from.

Thank you Nephro. I have quit xanax and am using clonazepam & valium to detox.
Valium I'm saving up for the final journey. The notense mentioned I gave to my wife
as she has a legal script for alprazolam.
I have access to the Ashton process which is a helpful guideline.

If you have quit Xanax then I feel that my hundreds of posts about the drug were worthwhile. Well done!

The cardio had me on Xanax. I was really afraid of its addictive potential so my new doc put me on clonazepam. She said it had a really long half-life and was much less addictive.

I don't remeber it being that difficult to switch from xanax to clonazepam.

I think I am being proactive, but I feel now like I can't trust any directive from any doctor.

Thanks for the info nephro!

And I'm wondering if I have permanent brain damage. I value my brain more than most things. It has helped me survive.

thanks nephro for all the info on alprazolam. It is a terrible benzo, it's notorious for tolerance issues and putting you in a foul mood more than treating anxiety. Low dose clonazepam would seem the sane route for anxiety. Thanks nephro for all your advice on the boards.

We all know that benzodiazepines affect short-term memory, but they now reckon these drugs can affect long-term memory as well. It's a hard one to get reliable data from due to the many variables involved.

I was put on Klonopin for social anxiety. 3 things. I never really felt anything while I was on it, it certainly didn't help with my anxiety, but people noticed a difference in me. I think they started me on too much, because my reaction time was just a little too slow. I was always turning corners and barely making it and misjudging moving objects slightly. I lost 2 days after I first took it. I woke up one Saturday morning, and thought it was Thursday. I later talked to friends and I had been out and about and participating in activities. Never again.

What dose did they start you on, if you don't mind me asking?

You may have benefited more by taking your daily dose at bedtime. Since clonazepam has a duration of action around 24 hours you could use it to get to sleep and it would still be working on you the next day. I noticed if I take my daily dose of 1.5mg all at once before bedtime that it puts me to sleep and keeps any anxiety at bay for most of the next day and I don't feel drowsy. Also clonazepam doesn't seem to effect my REM sleep as much as other benzos.

Anybody have experience with the Mylan brand of clonazepam? I was getting Teva's which seemed to work fine but today I open my bottle and found they switched to Mylan. They don't seem to be as effective to me although I do have a tolerance as I've been taking 1.5mg per day for over a year now. I did tell my doc today that I was getting a tolerance so I don't know if he switched brands to try and see if it helped. It also says to dissolve them under my tongue this time which usually it doesn't. That is my usual way of taking them anyways. Anyways any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
