fair enough. But don't you think it is a bit insane to get some powder sent in the mail? what I can tell you from having lived a long time if if you have a source for your anxiety or pain that is legitimate and you are assured to get the medicine for most of your life, then go ahead. Otherwise, you are only setting yourself up for more pain. Years ago, I remember a young doctor took my mom off all her meds, she was so old, she went through terrible withdrawals, the young doctor thought she was becoming toxic and I suppose she was but did it matter? he had the power, she did not.
you are wrong, I do support the people on this board but I think the remedies or sources will not last and people, usually poor or middle income people will once again be left to suffer. And yes I agree with treating anxiety with a mild sedative and I cannot ever agree with stuff like halcyon where murders have been committed and ambien where people often eat or walk, or have sex, or drive, part of the night. That is not sleep, what kind of sleep is that?

That is horrible about your mom. I get so outraged by what doctors do these days.
If I understand your post correctly, you are saying that because one might lose their benzo medication source(s), one should never take it? And that is because, biologically they will be worse off than they before they started to take it?
Well I agree that folks should try all sorts of stuff before resorting to daily benzo use. I think my assumption is that most folks here have already done that. So if one has tried everything and needs the meds for quality of life, I think they should take them and try to be smart about their source, tapering if it looks like things are gonna go south.
As I always say, we could get hit by a truck tomorrow, so I don't understand why anyone would not take meds, just in case their doc stops scripting them.
Your other point is that you are ok w/low level sedatives/benzo, but not the heavy stuff like halcyon or ambian?
And yes, I think getting powder and making your own meds is a bit odd. Maybe it is cheaper that way?

as an additional note, my mother died from having her medication taken away. The young doctor gave her several antidepressants which she hated, she was brought up in the era of valium and all she asked for was for 2 valium one in the morning and one in the evening. He refused, on the presumption she could fall. mom was never a drug addict, never drank, very responsible and died a sad death in a neglected hospital yes here in Canada. Anyways, she would have never mixed up any powders no matter what!!!She still poor her believed doctors were god and followed orders, she would have never let me order on the internet for her, and those doctors, her own, and the emergency mean white coat she had in the end, did her in. Another aunt of mine died in an old age home where they conveniently forgot to give her her meds.In old age homes here at least, the staff gets to keep the meds and are responsible for dispending. Does not give us much hope for old age serenity. take care all. be careful with powders, if you end up in hospital with the psychiatrist attending, your "privileges" such as driving will be taken away and they just love to do that, it makes their day.
