I need to know if anyone has any experience with WU that could help me navigate. I sent a transfer on Friday. When the person I was sending it to checked it for the on-line status it showed the number as not being good. So I went back to the WU agent I used. They didn't have any problem pulling it up and even called into WU to ask about it and they said you can only check it on-line if you sent it on-line. That didn't make any sense to me! The funds still are sitting there--not picked up. This I learned after being on the phone for almost an hour this morning. You still can't track the number via on-line. They assure me the funds are there under that number but there must be an issue as it took three people and a sup to pull up the number this morning. Any help is appreicated. I have thought about going back to get my funds back and re-sending...can I do that? Do I need ID? I have the receipt and all of the paperwork. Again, I appreciate it!
log all the way in to your western union account ...view profile and you should be able to see that the money is available for pickup. I had the same issue on Friday when I just tried to check with # and receiver's name. it is because of some new security measure.

I would ask them to redue it at their expense since they are also having a hard time finding it. Yes, bring your ID incase you are asked. I had a problem with WU on Friday since it just kept taking me in a circle and not going to the page to add a receivers name. I had to call to do the transfer. I tried two different times during the day just to see if it was a temporary glitch. Something was up on Friday IMO. K

I never use online W.U. because a lot of these ROP'S and IOP's are blackballed by W.U. as drug dealers and they refuse to send them money.I go to a local check cashing place and they ask no question's and I have no problem checking online for status of P.U. of money.Much easier and no questions.Sometime they ask for an I.D. but not always. Thanks for the feedback...so if it matters I did NOT do this on-line. I went into a WU agent. I used my maiden name so I do not have any ID with that name on it. Maybe it will all work out tomorrow but as of right now it appears no one has picked this up and the receiver said they were going to try and pick up Friday night even though they couldn't track it on line. Ugggh!

BD is right. No offence, but there are 1,000 posts on this subject. You registered way before me so you had ample time to research this subject. Go in person. No questions asked. I get upset because admin uses alot of bandwidth and great expense to host a wealth of info and only a few hit the search feature. Rant over!
Excuse me for questioning here...but I am not sure what the "rant" was for? I did research this topic...a lot. That is why I posed this question to the board. I followed all of the advice I read in the forums. I still have a problem which is why, again, I am posing the question to the board. Maybe if I type it in all caps? I WENT IN PERSON. It appears someone else didn't read all the way through and took off on the "never do it on-line" comment. Oh well.
But nonetheless...the others above who posted and then who contacted me via PM have helped tremendously. Not sure why you are addressing the "rant" to me?
When I did WU in person I had to show ID which they copied, provide my phone number and address. They also wanted a phone number for the receiver. I find it's less stressful online. K

They ask you the first time just to verify your identity(so you don't send money to a terrorist)but I have never had them ask for a phone number for the reciever ? I know no reason for them to ask that question ? I just grab a hand full of the forms and take them home.I fill them out at home and walk in and out in 5 minutes. They send the wire while I wait so they don't have time to check anything.I have sent dozens and never had a problem . They are only protecting our country's homeland security by checking identification. F.Y.I. B.D.
Has it always been policy for the wu office to ask for ID. In notice thats what it says currently on their web site. I've sent before and never been asked for ID.

Yes, As long as I have used WU it's been part of their terms and conditions, Yet, I have never been asked for ID when I go to the WU agent or Moneygram. I prefer to use MoneyGram agents, They have the same T&C's, But are less hassle, Not as likely to ask for ID, and cheaper than WU too.
I think the ID thing depends on the amount of the transfer. I have sent small amounts and not been asked but larger amounts I have been asked for drivers license.
