If anyone here is interested (and suffers from insomnia), the Earth will pass through the tail of Halleys Comet tonight and it should make for a good meteor show, they say.

Best viewing time from 1:00am to sun up.

If you live in a city with lots of "light pollution", forget about it. You probably won't see much.

If you can get out in the country, or better a mountain top, it could be a good show.
No telescope needed. Just warm clothes and something to lay down on for a wide view of the sky.

Can you see the comet itself or just meteors? I saw the comet back in the 80's or whenever that was but like you say...had to drive out to the country where it was dark.

Just a meteor shower tonight, but I think Halley's comes around every 76 or so years so hang in there !

Not that I'd be up anyway, but it's tough to see in my part of the country with the clouds and rain so dominant this time of year. Man, I'm going to miss the sun when we go back to standard time!

YUP..Same here. All clouds and I even stayed up later to look. I was hoping to catch one :-)

I love to watch that kind of stuff. But there no way I could of stayed up last night. Maybe somebody filmed it. That is second best. Sit at home and watched it in a warm house.
