How long does it take to get hooked on benzos?

Anywhere from a few days to never. It's impossible to answer.

Say diazepam is prescribed 3 times a day for 2 weeks, it is recommended to taper at the end, because the body can start to get physically dependent in this time.

If the same drug is taken just a couple of times a week for many years, he body may never become physically dependent.

Psychologically, someone may like the drug so much after one pill that they exhibit drug-seeking behaviour in order to obtain more; in this case one could argue that psychological addiction is in force from the start, even if the body is not physically dependent.

It depends what you mean by "hooked".

it also depends on someone's history with psychoactive substances.
For instance, if a person is participating in a methadone maintenance drug program, the concurrent use of self-medicated benzodiazepines is a pretty good indicator of addiction and abuse almost from the very get-go.

There is also the theory that some people are addicted to drugs in general, rather than one particular drug, and I can say that some people do appear to behave in such a fashion.

I got hooked on chiva (physically) smoking a g. a day for 2-3 weeks. I was very
surprised at pain that can not be described that came with dependance. 2 lorazapam a night make me sleep exc. but I will jump off a bridge if I get hooked on any thing else.

Its different for each benzo and person depending on your chemical make up and tolerance. Valium seemed to cause the least withdrawals for me. The withdrawals from xanax however were HELL! Didnt sleep for 3 days and had rebound anxiety so bad i seriously thought i was losing my mind. Make sure to take reasonable doses of any benzo and taper off. If you dont you will pay the price...

Worst to best (if you want to kick), JMHO:

1. Xnanx.
2. Ativan.
3. Klonopin.
4. Valium.
5. Oxazepam.

There are probably 10 more I have not mentioned.

Back in the day i noticed more physical pain when I used it. Like pain out of nowhere. Don't miss it.

i have been taken anything between 30/60 mg valium per night,since around may 09 i never use it during the day.

what would be the best way to start tapering until i can be benzo free , i want to start now. but where and how do i begin.

the reasons i want to stop benzo`s is that everyone around me say i seem to be getting more aggressive. and i have read this can bea side affect of benzo`s,.

so please if any 1 can help, where and how would you begin the tapering

Start by taking the same dose every night. Then start reducing by, say, 2mg per week. As you get lower, reduce by less. Diazepam lets you do this better than other similar drugs because it has active metabolites that linger around for quite some time.

If you feel uncomfortable, you can stay at the same dose until your body adjusts, but try not to go back up again.

People can get hooked pretty quickly. Because benzos have a mild impact on some people, they do not realize they are addicted until it is too late.

am due for blood and urine tests 30th this month, how long does valiu stay in your system for, ive been tapering off since the 11th of this month i was taking up 2 30/60mg nightly only, now am just taking 20mg, had a few bad days but nothing to bad,. think they will pick up the valium by the end of the month in blood and urine,

The half life is up to 100 hours, so I believe you will be alright.

Benzos are hell to come off of. Best of luck, my advice - don't start unless you really need them. Sad thign is for most doctors do not know how to handle this...

hate to tell you, but these things stick around and show up in urine tests for a while, especially valium.

Me too. Xanax withdrawal was so bad my eyes were twitching,
fractured my teeth at night by grinding, and restless leg syndrome.
Valium seems easier to taper and I'm using that now.
