Hi LMM, I've tried other meds for migraines or mostly allergy related migraines, and have successfully used the brand and generic since 2001. I was using a handful of vicodin daily for pain then, didn't know all the upper root canals had bacteria from the seals aging, and this went on since probably 1994. No doctor or dentist identified the problem, but I had numerous gum surgeries, allergy shots for years. Such dumb a** medical people out there. Finally the permanent bridge was pulled out while having a piece of caramel, and the problem was solved! No teeth remained, just roots! So lovely, so painful. Had to get off vics anyway after so long, hard to adjust to fioricet but to me it isn't junk at all. It meets my needs, but if you think a mild drug like this causes nausea, try something narcotic. You'll really know what nausea and vomiting is. At least I did.

You'll really know what nausea and vomiting is. At least I did. Hi there, Soho! I've never taken Vicodin as, thank goodness, I haven't needed to, but I know from friends that use it and other narcotic pain meds that it can cause some icky nausea. I really do like Fioricet/butalbital a lot. It really does help my headaches, and I know it's not a placebo effect. I think maybe if the nausea (which really doesn't happen very often) I mentioned in my other post was due to the Fioricet, it was likely only partially due to it. There very likely could have been other factors involved - such as not eating for hours and hours combined with taking it after being awake way too long (I work a weird schedule), or....just about anything. My headaches aren't actually migraines but more of a nasty stress and tension type headache, and I swear Fioricet is the only thing I've found that takes care of it. Tramadol is just okay at best, and over-the-counter meds don't really help me much at all. That could be because I'm so used to the Fioricet though. And oh how it can make me ramble and carry on! I go from hyperactivity and being quite the social butterfly to the eventual common sleepiness side-effect after taking it. Headaches do s u c k, don't they?
