I was on 2 80mg of oxycontin and up to 3 30 mgs of oxycodone for breakthrough pain.

I wasn't satisfied with this combination because at times this protocol was not strong enough..I still suffered with BT pain.

My Dr changed the mix to 3 60mg of MS Contin and the same 30mgs..up to 3 per day. It worked! In fact I only need 2 60mgs. My pain is now very much under control. I try not to take 3 of the oxycodones if i don't need it. 1 or 2 seems to work fine.

Wow, what are your pain issues? PM if you want to be discrete. I'm always curious about how we ended up here.

zzelda, thank you, That is exactly what I meant. Some people do not read the Rules and they get mad when you try to direct them in the right place. If it wasn't me it could have been someone else in a different manner. I just kept it short and sweet.

I wouldn't say that either of these drugs were non habit-forming, even in extended-release form.

Boy, sure wish I had a dr that gave me that high dose of mscontin LOL.......(not being sarcastic) I was on 30mgs of oxycontin 3xdaily 5mg perc 1x a day. Now I only take methadone (for chronic pain) 10mgs x3. Um not to be rude or anything but MsContin doesnt take no 3 months for it to take affect. 1st day into the 2nd day. Just my experience. I think Id be a zombie taking such large quantity of the oxycontin/oxycodone/mscontin. Ive never heard of any pcp in my city that would allow over 30mgs of whatever and 10mgs of short acting. I suppose if you have cancer that would be a whole different ballgame but Im lucky to get 10mgs of methadone. Again no offence, but I cant be a zombie. If I ever told my dr something didnt work I would be put on something less potent rather than an increase. I guess it depends on the state you live in?? Glad it helps you tho.

I had a bone marrow transplant 15 years ago due to stage 4 non-hodgkins disease with liver involvement...4 being the most severe type of cancer with vital organ(s) are involved my case having cancer of the liver The high dose chemo caused major central nerve damage. The pain is KILLER. I refused these type of meds until my neurolgist told me at 54 and with all the health issues you need a break from the pain. It's been over a year since i started opiate meds. I kick myself in the [censored] for refusing opiates years ago. I consider myself drug dependent because i most under use my meds and have weaned myself off a few times a year. I respect these meds and totally understand I have to treat myself by under using what's prescribed to me. I never over use and if I did I would be straight up about seeking the advice of my Dr's.

My quality of life is sooooo much better. I'm doing things i could not do before. I played 18 holes of golf last week for the 1st time in years...life is good again...

peace-out +<(:o)
