I'm confused....have an appt. with them coming up, but if the doc prescribes something, in what form do I get it? Paper script, or is it done through EClinic's pharmacy (if they have one)?

Doc writes a script you fill it where you want to. You can use insurance but it could come back to bite you. Eclinicmd does offer prescription discount cards you would have to call and find out how that workss. but they do not fill scripts. They are only a billing service RH Compliant.

How do you mean when you say using your insurance on this might come back to bite you? I'm not contesting, I just don't know. There are some meds I pay in full which I get online. But the nrops don't take insurance so I never thought to try. If it was a prescription I could take to the local pharmacy then would I still be best not to use insurance?

You go to a Doctor and put it on your insurance same thing with the script. All of a sudden No Doc just scripts. Inquireing minds need to know.

I think everyones freaking out about using your insurance.I use my insurance on all my meds and have never had a problem.

Nif - I think what people are saying is that if you use insurance, it makes the script easier to track. Cause they keep a record of it. And, sometimes, they Notify the doctor about it.

Not saying it's right, but seems to be the way.

But then there is the cost. One must weigh the benefits against the possible costs. Cost being that you would be denied further meds. Benefits are that you will pay much less. Only you can make that decision.

I would bet that most here do not use insurance. That is not to say that is the only way to track a script, but it is an easy one.

For out of state prescriptions (or any other), I have never had a problem. When they see you use the same pharmacy and don't have random, sporadic scripts elsewhere, there won't be any red flags. That being said, make sure your docs are all in sync. JMO

I just use those free prescription cards you can print off the internet. They bring the price down from 80 to 25, so no insurance is necessary. I just figured that the less information my insurance company has, the better.

Flossie - it is a database that lists all the meds you have had filled. Doctor, amounts, date filled, etc. "Authorized" users - basically anyone in the medical field can access this database and see what your prescription activity is.

Not all states have this in place. Oregon, for instance does not. Kentucky and Tennessee, on the other hand, have had it for years now and are very strict.

The supposed purpose was to make sure of patient safety (interactions, etc), but it has become a way to "trap" patients. It is disgusting to me. I don't care if there are abusers (of course there are), there is no excuse IMHO to violate a patient's privacy in this way.

Using insurance also allows tracking. Everytime you put a med through insurance it is recorded.

It never hurts to just ask.

Send the records you do have into the service you have available in your area. That costs nothing. It is the services job to do the first cut on a potential patients records before they send them off to the doctor.

If the service sends them in to the doctor, then that means you can see the doctor.

Research the doctors in your area based on info you find here or at other sites.

My doctor required a years worth of records prior to me seing him, but there may be others out there who are not as seriously strict.

I mean, pain is pain, and if the doctor is comfortable precribing to you, then that is a good thing, correct?

I agree - that is beyond disgusting......and people are worried about the direction in which this country is heading. Thanks for the info. Do you know if the PMP thing is something that is headed for a nationwide implementation? Or is there any way to find out which pharmacies/docs are linked in? It seems like there should be some sort of disclosure required if that's the case.

I have a question about EClinic.
I could call them but you have to sign up for an account etc.
The initial fee is $285. with no refills.
They say you have to call for a refill but they mention a $185 telephone consult fee.
Does this mean everytime I want a refill I have to pay $185?

Every month you maKE A doctors appointment and are charged 155.00 after you've had your teleconsult. I know I've heard of cheaper but since I talk to my Doctor with Eclinic he told me there would be no reason for hime to take the risk of a teleconsult without payment of some kind. Sad but true.

About Eclinicmd; I got an email today stating that they have a doctor up here in portland,OR. and this doctor is going to stay in the area for a while(or so they say)
I have made my fair share of plunges that didn't work so well, even with this new F2F stuff, I can can no longer afford these 'hit or miss' sources...
My question is; may somebody please tell me if they have the name of said doctor because I think it would be a lot cheaper going through him myself, and may be he even accepts my insurance for the visit. If somebody can help me with this please PM me.

The ones Joe mentioned wanted 50.00 a month for the service. And remailers are a risky business. Sorry to say I know of no way to get around Eclinic. The only reason these Doctors work for places like Eclinic is they get 50.00 on the spot with your insurance they get 20.00 and have to wait months. Denist make money Doctors no insurance. (Doctors mostly scrape by).

Warning about the doctor in the Dallas area,reconsults are 195 and you have to see him in person every month.

Are you sure about tht I just got a statment from them and the monthly charge was 155.00 included everything but the script. Which you can use insurnce or not.

Do these places contact prior doctor's offices? Or just read the records? My 2nd to last pcp and I didn't part ways on good terms. I still have records from them though. I see they will now accept records up to 24 months old, this is very helpful to me. Help is much appreciated!
