I never had a pain killer before (besides a trip to the ER once back in my 20's where I took one and threw out the bottle) until 2 years ago. I had all sorts of dental issues (wisdom teeth, all four, had to come out and when they were doing that, they cracked a perfectly good tooth next to them) I ended up getting dry sockets for 6 weeks! Not a whole lot that is more painful than that.
Needless to say I was on hydro for about 8 weeks straight, and about a week into the ordeal, I started really liking the effects. I was taking 2 or so every day depending on the level of pain. Once I got over it, I was hungry for more. It did help tremendously with a back problem I have had since I was a kid, so i continued to seek it out, but I wish I hadnt. Over the course of the next year and change, i was up to close to 20 a day. It took that much because my tolerance shot threw the roof and I wouldnt feel a thing if I only took 2. But, please stay away from these things if you can.
With some time, it will become less and less and you will think about it less and less. I know after I finished what the docs gave me, it was all I could think about. But, take it from me, dont take any more if you can help it and cross any other bridges when you come to them.

How would you describe the difference between IV morphine and IV diamorphine? I wouldn't know about a slow drip; but as for shooting it (bearing in mind that its been years since I shot either)---Dilaudid for me was candy; it was a massive rush at the beginning followed by a settling into pure bliss, I found it to be the closest pharmaceutical to pure heroin--(everyone sez oxys--but I never'got' that)-but it was relatively short acting (3-5 hours)and exceedingly dangerous (more, more, more til yer dead,dead,dead).............Morphine was kind of the gold standard for me---good rush (better than shot codeine, but not as good as dilaudid) and very long lasting (5-8 hours for me)---but it wasn't particularly fun, mostly just effective.*************************************************************************************A word on IV: DON"T DO IT. PERIOD. Its one of those things you simply do not need to experience. Yes, it feels good--but that just makes it harder for it to be a one time thing. People who start on the needle generally NEVER get over it, and get hooked on the spike almost as much as the drug. Its a quick way to overdose, and a quick way to send a habit spiraling over the edge into oblivion. Every pleasure in this life comes with a price tag attached---and believe me--that ones price is too much to pay. Please believe me. Just eat 'em---or if you must; crush 'em into a glass of water---but don't shoot. If you already started try to stop before its too late. If it doesn't kill you eventually you'll wish it had (after it destroys everything in your life thats worth a damn)

If you write this stuff friend, do your homework. Yes, Dils are well known to be like that but the feeling lasts a very short time (or I was superman when I was 18, LOL).

Yea, those who have never experienced a dry socket don't know what pain even is. Holy Cow is that intense. But, take it from me, dont take any more if you can help it and cross any other bridges when you come to them. Bro/Sisters, I have to disagree when you said not much is more painful then a dry socket/dental work... I have had anything and everything dental including 6 wisdom teeth, yes 6!!! all had to be cut out and most would become dry sockets because I had a problem with sucking on them inside my mouth (not correct description but its the best I could call it lol)... Anyway many rootcanals etc etc... Now with that said I battle SCIATICA and a severe case of it and it brings me to my knees on numerous occasions... I recently broke my hand, it was black and blue and it was nothing to this nerve pain that runs over half of my body... Not saying what you experienced isnt painfull just letting you know that there are things that are called chronic pain conditions that you HAVE to take meds, get shots, have surgery just to reduce some of the pain or get some mobility... I personally have to take OC 80mgs and for breakthrough Oxycodone 15mgs everyday just to be productive... I have been taking this for years and yes regardless of how you want to look at it, Im addicted and so is anyone who has to take it like I do... If you are a recreation user please dont put yourself in my grouping even if you call yourself an addict like I am... I no longer feel a high, I can just feel the difference if I miss just one dosage and I get a taste of my pain again... BBB
