Cold turkey is not a good idea w/benzos. My understanding is that it can cause seizures and even death. Not sure exactly where kpins fall in the list of benzos and w/d side effects, as different benzos have different levels of w/d severity.
Also probably depends on how much and how long you have been taking them.
Hopefully someone else w/more knowledge will answer.

A good, simple rule about discontinuing benzodiazepines is to always avoid cold turkey. Even though it is usually advisable to switch whatever med you are taking to Valium, a taper schedule can be accomplished using just about any benzo including Klonopin. I always suggest a starting reduction of 10%-15% of daily dose to be maintained for 1-2 weeks. Continuing with that schedule 10%-15% down every 1-2 weeks until under 5mg/ daily. The balance should be governed by a "the lower, the slower" approach meaning possibly smaller 5%-10% reductions. While that might seem like a protracted period of time, it can be done in around 60-90 days without medical supervision. Of course, the ideal way to discontinue benzos is a 28 day in-patient program medically supervised. I have personally seen cold turkey benzodiazepine withdrawals result in death. Obviously it doesn't happen every time but it is not a risk I would suggest anyone take.

YOu're so right. I took Klonopin to help reduce seizures, so it makes sense that seizures would be a factor when w/d. I've read it a zillion times on here and believe it!!!

I have been prescribed clonazepam and paxil for the past two years due to my panic attacks. I am trying to ween off of the kpins against my doctors orders but I'm having a tough time.. does anyone know the side effects of cutting off a benzo cold turkey? thanks in advance
DO NOT WEAN COLD TURKEY. you risk seizures. people die from seizures. if you are on paxil, your seizure risk increases.

yes, one can die from a benzo withdrawl. its supposed to be among the worst withdrawls. and I know opiate withdrawl is no fun.
