Last Wednesday I got a call about ordering hydro. Send money via Moneygram, overnight shipping. I ordered, sent money.
No meds. Two days later an "FDA agent" called stating the shipment was seized and I would need to get a lawyer. Yikes. All a scam, I think. But I'm pissed and out $500.
What made you think it was a good idea to send money to someone who called?
It wouldn't been the DEA, not the FDA. The FDA does not have general jurisdiction to prosecute individuals; the FDA is concerned with prosecuting drug corporations and business that misbrand or mislabel.
It would be local police, state police, county Etc. or DEA. The only time FDA would get involved with individuals is usually at an airport or border and if you're smuggling banned plants, or food, or whatever is they happen to be watching when they catch you. In spite of the name, they are not concerncened with drug use as a rule.
For about three months I received calls twice a week from guys with heavy accents trying to sell meds. They wanted CC numbers. My caller id put them in California.
Just wanted to mention that these days, one has to be careful. Our cell phones put me and my husband in Florida ande Boston. We are not there and do not intend to live there. It was easier to keep the telephone numbers With our phone service, it really doesn't what TN'S we have. The cost was the same and I didn't want to change the number unless we had to. Caller ID usually shows the cell phone billing office. I do have the ability to check the kids locations via a GPS if I want to, as long as thier system is on. I narrows it to a satisfactory location (IMO), but is cost a bit more. Doesn't do a thing for anyone elses location or incoming calls. I also have a computer TN that says I am in Las Vegas. All I can see out my window is woods, more woods, and waster (lots of it). Not Las Vegas.
Also, maybe it is not the wisest thing to send $500 to someone you do not know. I think that I would have just sent a smaller amount the first time unless they have an option to use a charge card. Even that is not foolproof.
Geez, I didn't think of it til I read this post, but I got a phone call from a woman with a really heavy accent. She called be by name and rattled off a bunch of names/qty/prices and then immediately said "so how much shall I put your order in for?" I was really freaked out that someone had my phone number and name, and I hung up. No calls since then, but if I see an area code I don't recognize I get scared now! Anyway, I'm not sure if this is relevant, and I'm new here and just learning (lots, thank you, everyone) but it's a real 'eye-opener' reading these boards...
Btw, I thought the FDA (Food & drug Administration) were the guys watching the safety of the beef supply, making sure that there isn't too much Red Dye #52 in our Tylox, or too much bug spray on our apples, but like I said, I'm new here, and just learning the ropes, and trying not to hang myself in the process!
