I was wondering if anybody knew why the western union fees are triple the amount to send in the USA than they are to send money in minutes to say another COUNTRY??

Is it really triple the cost? Legal jurisdiction ends at the border, US law no longer applies, so if you send money to another country Western Union has much less liability if you allege receiver fraud.

Not positive, but I recently sent money WU to another country and it cost me $10.00. But I see on my copy of the form I filled out where it says, "IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSFER FEE, WESTERN UNION ALSO MAKES MONEY WHEN IT CHANGES YOUR DOLLARS INTO FOREIGN CURRENCY."

So, most likely if you send to a country where the exchange rate works out to their advantage, the transfer fee will be less. If sending to a country where the exchange rate is the opposite, the transfer fee would probably be more.

its always cheaper to send money via wu outside of the us than within the us because they make money on exchanging the dollars to pesos, or wherever its going. if you send money within the us, the only way they make money is by charging an exuberantly high fee, like $30! its crazy to use WU to send money within the US.
