I'm just crushed.

DJ AM, was found dead in his New York apartment this afternoon.
It is pointing to a suicide.

He and Travis Barker were the only survivors of that horrible plane crash in 08.
They both were severely burned and have been through countless surgeries.
My older girl and I were just talking this morning about 'celebrity' deaths usually happen in 3's.

Then we both got the 'Twitter' about DJ AM.

So sad.

RIP DJ AM.

Did not hear about it till now Fangz,,,, do you know what happened? Didn't he used to go with Nicole Richie?? I
wonder after surviving a plane crash he would to that. So sad.

Yes, he and Nicole Ritchie used to date.
They have no cause of death released yet. Supposedly his body hasn't been moved out of his apartment yet.
Stories are coming out there were drugs on the scene, but of course that's not official.

MTV and he recently made an intervention type special. He apparently helped a lot of folks stop drugs.

I'm sure more will come out later this evening. I'm certain Travis Barker is devastated. Actually, he was very close with lots of celebrities.

Very sad for this to happen. I mean, the guy was basically a miracle for surviving that horrible plane crash.

Who are the other two? I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to be in a horrific accident like the one he was in and survive. I have heard that people often end up with survivors guilt. Also, I wonder if he was left with some kind of permanent problem from the accident and couldn't cope?

Well, it's official according to the NY Times this morning that a crack pipe and "various prescription drugs" were found. My guess (and you can mark my words), is a heart attack associated with cocaine use. The guy was morbidly obese. Sad stuff...

I don't remember seeing pictures of him being overweight.

Yes, the early reports were certainly pointing to drugs.
Supposedly his girlfriend broke up with him and he was devastated. He had gone back to drug use since after the accident.

He was overweight back before he got clean. He had gastric bypass surgery.

Now, if he relapsed on drugs, and also gained weight recently, I don't know.

The guy had a pretty rough life.

He was sober for many years until after the plane crash. His doctor prescribed him xanax for his fear of flying and it went downhill from there. He was a great guy. He will be missed.

breakbeatz, they are saying he had 8 oxy tabs in his stomach and one in his mouth at the time of death.

If anyone wants to see what he was all about, go to youtube and search DJ AM and tons of his shows/performances come up.
My favorite is "Enter Sandman" and almost any with Travis Barker.

They were talking about it on TV and mentioned that a crack pipe was also found.

So sad after all the tragedy he went through with the plane crash.

That's the first i have heard about oxy. I met him a few times. He seemed like a genuine person.

Lucky you! I just gathered from seeing him perform and all that he was probably a great guy. Very 'real'.

The family wants no more flowers sent, but donations to AM's favorite charities, including the National MS Society.
