Just a quick note re: DHC - if it hasn't been mentioned before now. In Europe, these were manufactured in 60, 90 and 120 mg time-release "caplets", with a rather faint imprint of "DHC xx" (xx being the # of mgs) on one side only. I've seen them sold as both "Contugesic" and "Didor Continus" - and they were pretty regularly available from some Euro OPs up until about 5 or 6 years ago. Not sure what happened, but I know that the meds are still around (found an email source for 'em for a while, but lost contact). If anyone's got a lead on some DHCs for a fair price, I'd love to find out where I could get more. Usually one 90mg DHC would take care of me for the entire day. The only problem? Killer constipation if you take too much.

* There is a newer "Martindale" book out 2007 edition, but I do not have immediate ready access to it. The Martindale
also publishes the manufacturer of each "brand name" in each respective country, but to save typing time I skipped that info that is in each of the Martindale books.

Thanks for the list ... too lazy to do my own research.

No. Why don't you go over to France and see a doctor? Oh yea. It's all socialized medicine. Good luck.

Scruffy80 & bazzal99,
I have never seen dihydrocodeine, at least by a "brand manufacturer" in Western Europe or Eastern Europe that was
"cheap" from a IOP. The range I am familiar with is from at least $9.00 per caplet by Knoll Pharma (under license for Purdue to mfg the 120 mg DHC Continus (sustained release) a/k/a "Dicodin", to as much as, $18.00 per caplet for "DHC" in US Dollars
"half the dose" @ 60 mg. for about $18.00 each. The former IOP www.rxvogue.com appears to be out of business, after nearly a 8 year run. (one vendor that offered the Knoll/Purdue product)
www.igloo.com has a 30 mg. DHC on their inventory, @30 tabs for
$52.50 (US dollars) I don't know the manufacturer, or if it is a "generic version" or if it is immediate release, or, the sustained release version. This "pure version" of dihydrocodeine (without any other ingredients like Apap) is a Schedule II inside the USA, (not made in USA) except as a C-III with only 16 mg. of dihydrocodeine (DHC Plus, Synalgos-DC,
with Paracetamol+caffeine).

BiggDubb & Scruffy80,
I am sorry I did not give the complete web address on Igloo,
the correct address is www.igloorx.com Also, the site if often "closed to registration to new members", thus, unless they have recently "opened their registration to new members", then, it may take some patience, for you to get a opportunity to join.

i have now found out those two tablets cant be use to come off valium, so back to my doctor tomorrow.

Do a search, but type "dihydrocodeine" in the search box, as it does not accommodate foreign spellings.

Is it possible that I would somehow be immune to the effects of DHC? I have always found codeine to be a big help to me but I recently tried some DHC because I had heard it is more pure and has less side effects i.e. constipation. The problem was it seemed to do absolutely nothing to me. I took a 40mg and about two hours later two more 40s. These were not time release they were genuine DF118. They had like zero effect. Expirey date is 1/11 so I know that isnt it. Could it be cuz I usually take codeine on an empty but took these with food?

DF118 (dihydrocodeine)is a very good pain medication. I have used this for my back pain for a few years with very good results. From reading previous posts there are many members that would like to find a source for dihydrocodeine. I do not want to break any Rules and discuss sources but anyone interested in trying DF118 should contact a pharmacy in a country that carries it and explain why you need this medication. I know that with a little homework and effort you will find a pharmacy that will ship it for legitimate pain.

Yes,
It would be stronger and with fewer side effects.

Hm, old thread, well, my first experience with DHC 60 was this wknd, this feels like strong codeine, but for 1/2 hour after I wake up from a nap, bad headache....everyone new to DHC, be deliberate with this medication for your starting doses. And drink plenty of fluids (after a nice glass of iced tea, head feels just fine)

Cheers,

I was prescribed cough syrup with dihydrocodeine last year when I got the flu, it was very effective at suppressing my cough and gave me a very pleasant warm euphoric effect. Frankly, I would love to have a regular supply of the stuff around in case I get the coughs again...is the syrup preparation longer lasting, shorter, better, worse than tabs?

I had 2 10mg pill of DHC awhile ago and I took both. Didn't even do anything to the pain compared to my norco.

20mg of DHC is pretty worthless, really. The usual dosage is 30-60mg (as with codeine), although you can go higher. I've found 80-100mg helpful in the past, back when my chronic pain was more 'moderate'. These days I need stronger stuff.

That is not surprising since 20mg of DHC is equipotent to approximately 30%-50% of one Norco tablet.

The same, if the dose of DHC is the same, though the liquid may have a quicker onset of effect, depending on its viscosity.

That would make sense. It was given to me by a friend who got it sold to him as vicodin 10mg while he was visiting Mexico. If they wanted if to be like a 10mg you would think they would have put much more in it. Oh well.
