Recently I had to go to the ER and they gave me oxy (5mg) and Soma (350mg). I hadn't taken the Soma because I thought it didn't work for me.

Well, unfortunately, the Soma and the oxy look very similar. I just took what I thought was two oxy's but I mistakenly took two Soma. Well, I am having a major anxiety attack because the Soma is kicking my butt. Should I be worried that I took too much? I usually take 10 mg flexaril.

Thanks. I'm actually feeling better already. I called a poison control center just to be on the safe side (I do admit to being an overly paranoid person - I also made myself throw-up to get rid of any that might stil be in my stomach). They said they have reports of toddlers taking that much and being ok. So, my anxiety level is starting to decrease and I'll just go to bed and go with the flow. I am going to put that Soma in a different location or mark the bottle so this doesn't happen again.

This sort of think happened in the UK when manufacturers suddenly decided to standardise their packaging. I used to take 2 particular pills at night, and once ended up taking my mate's beta blockers by accident. It only became apparent when my heart rate slowed to a crawl.

Pharmacists reported these incidents and manufacturers have reverted back to making their products - especially generic ones - look more different.

Standardising for the sake of standardising is never a good idea, but happens frequently.

next time take a half of a Soma and you will be OK... will help tremendously with the spasms and you will feel much better.

I think if I just take the prescribed dose I'll be OK. The mistake I made was keeping the bottles together in my nightstand and not looking at the label. What's weird is I actually noticed that the pills have the vintage logo on them and I thought the oxy bottle label said Mallies. Should have paid attention to that and I wouldn't have made this mistake.

One time, when the doctors were trying to find a med to help my son (Tourette's, OCD, ADD) they put him on a blood pressure med. Well, one day I took two pills out for him and I guess I was distracted and ended up throwing them in my mouth and swallowing. I freaked when I realized what I had done - pretty much did the same thing I did tonight - made myself throw up and called poison control...

I guess I can be a bit of a space case at times.

I do the same thing with pills. In my case I forget how many I've taken, so I have to take the proper amount out for the day to make sure I don't take more. I swear I would take more than I should because I don't remember taking them half the time. I have a daily pill box thingy for my dog who's on rimadyl. I would totally freak if I screwed up his dosage!

Well, I sure over-reacted. Once my anxiety went away, I found I was fine.

It's weird because many years ago I was Rx'd Soma and it didn't seem to work for me so I have always just taken flexaril. It's good to know I have an option now because flexaril is becoming less effective.

As the years have added up, along with my illnesses and prescriptions, I have been forced to buy 2 of those pill box thingy's for myself.

Without them, I was forgeting and taking too much or too little of my medications. Not Good !

Now, if I could just remember to fill the pill box with the correct dosages each week :>)

PS. My generic Beta Blocker and Ace Inhibitor are now almost identical !!
I've screwed up and got some remarkably slow pulse rates !!

They should have a universal color code, like M&M's ! (Ha Ha)

I once took an ambien during the day when I meant to take something else. That stuff really makes you feel bad if you are not taking it at night and not trying to sleep. That day was a total waste. I read my prescription bottles more carefully since then. There's just nothing quite like that feeling you get when you've already swallowed a pill and you're not sure if you took the right one.
