I am currently on lexapro with rebotexine for energy and have been taking the combo for about 3 months. Initially it worked however stress is breaking through the initial calm I felt after taking these. Also, I usually take Tramadol for my pain
but they dont mix with lexapro. I want to start on wellbutrin, can anyone compare the 2 for depression and energy levels whilst on them?

When I first took wellbutrin, I did extremely well on it. I took the SR version (I think I worked up to a dose of 300-400mg a day). I felt great while taking it. It helped me to focus and I also lost 25lbs without trying.

I stayed on it for a few years. The weight loss affect seemed to taper off over time, however, but my mood stayed pretty stable.

When I tried it again, a few years later, I didn't have quite as good a response but a lot of that had to do with I often would forget to take my PM dose (if I took it too late in the day it would affect my sleep). My psych doc switched me to the newer XL version and it turned out to not work at all for me.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Just a quick thought, My Dr ADDED Buspar onto my regular Lexapro prescription as an anxiety fighter. It works EXTREMELY well for me and I would definately suggest you talk to your DR if anxiety is a symptom you deal with.

I don't think you can take Tramadol with Wellbutrin either.

"They" say you shouldn't take Tramadol with any antidepressant due to the combo causing seizures. Personally, Ive had no problems taking an occasional Tramadol with my daily dose of Zoloft. I rarely take a Tramadol, maybe once every few months and never more than 1 or 2 in a days time. I'm actually shocked that docs are still giving out trams when they know their patient is on an anti. Sounds like malpractice any way you look at it to me. Its the trams that can cause seizures but I think that may be in larger doses but don't quote me on that. I knew a girl who loved Ultram and said she got high on them. Well, one night she was at a concert and she popped like 7 or 8 trams and boom! She was on the ground convulsing. I have never liked trams for anything except for taking when I ran out of my pain meds. Then I would take only 1 50mg tram to keep the w/d's at bay. Anyways, be careful taking the two together. I would talk to my doctor and ask him for something that doesn't interact with my anti.

Oh yea, if you haven't tried Zoloft yet, I would give it a go. I'm at 50mgs on a daily basis; my doc prescribed 100mgs but for me, that was too much. I've been feeling great. I started taking it after I gave up alcohol a few months back and I now have most of my energy back and am genuinely happy. I was extremely depressed before, wouldn't leave the house unless absolutely necessary, would NEVER socialize, was afraid to even answer the telephone. I wouldn't shower for days, it was too much work. I just didn't care, I lost my will to live. Now I'm doing 100% better. I realize we all react differently to these types of meds but its worth a shot if you haven't tried it already. Good luck to you. \:\)

Emptivoid,
Wow. Your symptoms sound the same as what I have experienced. However, the Tramadol and ssri combo scares me. Dr rx'd Tramadol for chronic back pain. Nasty stuff, imo. Suffer w/d's from small doses. Perhaps a taper from tram & then another ssri might work for me? Others I've tried from rx have done nothing for me...made symptoms worse. I know that they can take 6 weeks to work.

I am getting better on my own, but there are days that it is an effort to get dressed and everything is totally overwhelming. Also do not go out. Feel like Howard Hughes but w/out the $. Not a way to live and I fear I don't have that much left to live. There has to be a better way. Glad it is working for you.

I start Wellbutrin tomorrow. My Dr. said it should give me some pep during the day. She didn't say it had any other effects. I guess I'll find out the best way by trial and error \:\(

I cannot try zoloft, simply put...my then boyfriend was on them for a month then missed one week and committed suicide. I spent years wondering what on earth happened and was so frightened of anti depressants thinking that if I took them I might somehow do the same. I now know 12 years later...that he was sick and I tried to help him by taking him to the doctor to get the zoloft but he was really sick.
I feel that the ensuing grief and withheld shock caused my depression as I was happy go lucky before it happened and had nearly finished uni. So 12 years on I had to complete a relatively simple task-to sort through clothes and decide what to keep and what to throw out. It took me half the day to get through a tiny pile as I just could not make any decisions and I felt so panicky and horrible. I realised then I needed help so I got it after all these years of suffering! The meds have helped me cope, I dont seem to go down to that black horrible place anymore but I still have some panic and anxiety + stress overload. Enough of all that ... I am switching to wellbutrin tomorrow or Zyban as its called here(anti-smoking aid how bizarre)and I think I will stay away from the Tramadol if its going to cause seizures, get something else for pain. Hope all goes well for you all on here...depression and panic attacks are so debilitating.

For he past month or so my doctor has me on 20mgs of lexapro and 300mgs of Welbutrin.Back in the day I used to be on Prozac and that worked great but because I lost my insurance my "Happy" went with it. As far as I can tell...nothing out of the norm yet. Although I do feel a lot more motivated and I don't mind getting out of bed and I even shower EVERYDAY! So I'd say that the combination is working quite well. Prozac made made me blow up like a bloated pig, but the combo of lex and wel has kept that side effect from happening. I wish I could say the say about the sex drive though,

I started taking Wellbutrin this morning and already notice an improvement on my situation. The medicine gave me a little pep, I feel motivated, took shower and probably will spend the day getting something done.

I already have some of those side effects from the opiates I take. So Cialis is my best friend \:\)
