Hi everyone: Has anyone ever taken resveratrol as a supplement to thier diet? It's the extract from red grapes that has all the anti oxident properties and is being studied for life extension and cardio benefits. If you have, do you notice any benefit?

If you google it several sites pop up, even Walgreens has it.

Yes and yes.I HIGHLY recommend it.
Women may need to look into it a bit because it has some anti-estrogen properties, which also make it ideal for bodybuilders(or anyone) taking certain testosterone boosting products.

Do you have any knowledge of the right dosage that was done in the studies? Thanks for googling. Last time I looked I didn't find any but that was a long ways back.

Joker, if you take it what dosage do you take? Any side effects?

I vary the dose, but if I take it as a maintainance type dose,it's usually around 25mg twice a day.I may only do that for, say, two to three weeks in a row, then drop down to around 10mg twice a day for a week or so.
At different times I will have much lower and during other times higher(when taking test boosters).I don't take it all the time,I cycle on and off.I definitely notice when I'm taking it.
I don't notice any side-effects at all and I'm fairly sensitive to side-effects of anything.

So Joker, what are the benefits as far as you are concerned?

The TV show "60 Minutes" featured a story on Reveratrol last Sunday which can be read on the cbsnews.com web site.
It's an interesting story but you need to read with some objectivity and sketicism. The current studies are being conducted to find the most effective pharmacy dose and clinical purity of the supplement.
This will supposedly take another five years to get to market if the studies prove successful.
Maybe, maybe not? Sounds too good to be true but they said that about using LSD to treat psych disorders.

I think realistically, it just improves your overall health, similar to drinking red wine, however noticing the effects is difficult.

I re-checked my bottle and I was actually taking 50mg(not 25mg).

I can only speak for myself, but the main action I notice is the anti-oxidant effect(less headaches, clearer thinking, more energy etc.)

The other real benefit for myself is the testosterone boosting and estrogen reducing effects. When I'm taking things to help my testosterone,I really notice the resveratrol. When I stop taking the test.boosters, the resveratrol helps level my test.and estrogen back out.

I have a friend who is going to start taking it for arthritis and a few other problems.I will let you know what they think.

Btw,it appears if taking it by itself,it requires quite a high dose to be beneficial.
I take it in a formula with othe bioflavanoids and anti-oxidants which seems to allow for lower dosing.
