I was prescribed 8mg (1 tablet) a day and that was way more than needed. I took about 1/2 (4mg) a day at most, though my hydro dosage was about 240 (10/325)per month.

Also, the experience of taking 16mg won't necessarily mean that 8mg will be half as effective. It might even be more effective. This drug seems to have its own unique set of Rules, and nobody seems to know what they are.
I get up earlier now. used to sleep later, now seem to want to get up about 6:00 am.....I have to go to work. but have been layed off. So now I tring work time. to see how this will work at work, have took any hydro, nights could use a little more.

I had same experience with waking up also.Seemed like once I got a little regulated to the sub. I would wake up at same time every morning, even if I didn't have same # of hours of sleep. Not sure if sub has anything to do with it though. It may but I feel after getting rid of all the meds in my body it was used to for so long it is just ajusting itself. And I am alot older now seeing I was on meds for over five years(more like 7)I think my body just won't sleep any more time now.Remember my dad getting like that as he got a little older(notice I did not say gotten old!)

Wow...have you by any chance had your liver checked? That's a dangerous amount of acetaminophen intake. If you were examined, how is your liver function?
If you have not had that checked, I'd urge you to talk to your doctor about it. Good luck to you.

That's only an average of 12 or so per day. Many people take much much more. The APAP is a level of about 400 mg"s a day on this dose. Most damage is done at higher acute intake levels, and high intake combined with alcohol. I always recommend a regular liver enzyme panel for those on regular medication, but many work slowly upwards to a higher level of medication and the liver adjusts and does just fine.

Back in 2004, 1.5 tabs a day was enough, but now i need 2.5 tabs a day. 75 tabs a month costs 12 * $382.50 = $4590. My monthly copay before hitting the Medicare "doughnut hole" is $62. Even though the only alternative is MMT, Medicare carriers are allowed to consider costs in putting Suboxone in Tier 3 "Non-preferred Brand" even though there is no alternative my doctor is allowed to prescribe.
If Suboxone stops working for my TRD, i'm going to have to choose between MMT and suicide.
Supposedly, the patent runs out in 2010 and someone will offer a generic. If it wasn't for Medicare, I'd be on MMT by now for sure. But my doctor says it would be very bad for my health to be on methadone.
It's very easy to be willing to just give up due to living in a society that considers me no better than a piece of garbage because the only meds that relieve my TRD are opioids. It took me years to find an understanding doctor who was smart enough to understand my self-medication was the result of other doctors refusal; to give me the type of med i needed, but by that time i had been self-medicating to the point that i definitely met the eligibility for office-based treatment of opioid dependence and my doctor relized the stupidity of doing what all the other doctirs had done in mistakenly telling me that i should stop taking opioids.
Bt. He wouldn't be willing to risk his license by treating me off-label. A lot of people kill themselves because they don't realize that opioids could relieve their suffering ... or else the patients are brainwashed by TV to to see that as a character flaw and try to live without them.

where is the 4k number coming from? without INS subutex cost around 4 something per pill.. suboxone is about 1.25 more expensive bringing it to 5 something. so 75 tabs even at 6.00/e would be 450.00/month.
how or why are you paying 4k?

Sorry it took me a while to answer this. Last Thursday I was walking up to my class at college when i slipped on black ice. Right leg went up in the air and my left calf buckled under my left thigh. Pretty much parallel. I heard and felt all sorts of nasty sounds i shouldn't have. Anyways though i could tough it out. Went got an xray, showed nothing broken.
Cause i am on Coumadin family doctor says i have to see ortho stat. So i call them and they get me in 3 hours after initial injury. Out comes the horse needle. He aspirated 80cc of blood in his office. Doc says if it gets extremely swelled or too painful goto E.R. Well, friday morning I woke up dying in pain. Had my dad drive me to the E.R. Being a former paramedic I knew the E.R. doctor who was on. I explained to him about taking the subutex for pain. He didn't really know anything about Bupe so i kinda schooled him alittle. Told him I need IV fentanyl to get the bupe off the MU receptors so the the IV diluadid would help. He listened to me. Gave me 100mcg IV fentanyl and was giving me 2mg IV diluadid every 20-30 minutes until i was somewhat comfortable. Throughout my stay in the hospital they aspirated a total of 240 cc of blood from my knee. I didn't break anything but tore a bunch of miniscus and something about a quad tear(not fun so far). So i just got home from the hospital about 6 hours ago. He sent me home with 8mg oral Diluadid Q 3 hours as needed.
Anyways, back to the original question. I have no intention of stopping the subutex, unless my back were to magically stop hurting. There really is no downside not to take. If i need to have emergency stuff done then i tell them i need IV fentanyl. I will probably finish out the 60 count of 8mg dilaudid that they gave me when i was Discharged today and go back to the subutex. Unless of course there is a reason i need to stay on more potent pure agonists for a longer time.

Pain, what pain!!!!! We don't need no stinkin Pain!!
I take 2mg a day of Suboxone, tapered from 4mg. I also spent 1.5 years at a methadone clinic and did not increase my dose past 45 mg. I tapered from 45 mg to 5 mg and jumped off and it was hell on earth. I personally do not recommend MMT in comparison to Suboxone. I've been on both but that is still my opinion...Also, MMT is FAR more intrusive on your life....driving to the clinic every day, etc. I only go to my sub clinic 2x a month.
