Does anyone know of a diet pill that does not give you that speedy, jittery effect? I'm looking for an appetite supressant and not an ALLI kind of thing.
TIA Meridia (chem: sibutramine) *is* classified as a stimulant since it affects the neurotransmitter norepinephrine (causes stimulation), but because it acts on serotonin (the neurotransmitter that helps calm you) at the the same time, you should not feel much in the way of stimulating effects. It helped me feel full very quickly, but I did not lose much weight on it [the down side]. You could try an OTC supplement called "glucomannan". It's a soluble fiber, and it comes from the konjac plant. It comes in capsules and is available at health food stores, drug stores, the 'Marts ('K and Wal), etc. Sounds weird and gross, but here's a study I found online: Clinical evidence suggests glucomannan may be beneficial in weight loss.[4] Because it is a soluble fiber, it absorbs water to form a viscous gel-like mass. This mass may promote feelings of satiety while traveling through the gastrointestinal tract. In obese patients, taking 1 gram of glucomannan with 8 ounces (250 ml) of water 1 hour before each of 3 meals daily over 8 weeks resulted in an average weight loss of 5.5 pounds (2.5 kg)In my experience, it worked just as well as meridia at suppressing/curbing my appetite. It's pretty cheap, and, it's not the kind of fiber product that's going to cause any uncomfortable side effects...
