I just received my prescription of generic Hydro 10-500 w/APAP from an ROP and it turned out to be the Qualitest brand. After taking Watson 10-500's, I noticed a HUGE difference with the Qualitest brand.
Aside from providing me with very little pain relief for my lower back area (I now have to take more than double the usual dose to get the same effect the Watson's had), the Qualitest hydrocodone upsets my stomach AND makes me feel extremely nauseous and sleepy, which is causing problems for me with my job.
Has anyone out there had a similar experience when switching from one generic brand of Hydro w/APAP to another? If so please let me know which brands you switched from/to and the main differences.
My mom(she's 69)lives with me,she has a list of lung problems, also has back trouble and the aches and pains of growing older.. I started to get her script filled at wal-mart when she moved in,and she immidiately new the difference..At the mom and pop drug store she was given Watson brand VicodinES.Wally World gives out mallies.. It made her sick and didnt seem to relieve her pain as well.. So I drive the extra few miles for her to where she use to get her script filled.. Could it be the fillers in the different brands that make one sick?

Yes. Lots of us have had the same problem with the Mallies. I have a new rule-If I can't pronounce the name, Mallinckrodt, I won't take it, EVER. I swear they fill those with Ipecac.

I have a somewhat similar question. I just ran across a bottle of Vicodin that expired in 2005. Does anyone think that they may still work for pain, or work at all for anything?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Thumper, I think the smart thing to do would be to send them to me to test just in case there's a problem with them. Seriously, though, I keep an emergency stash that is a couple of years old. If and when I run out between scrips, I take a couple as needed. They seem fine to me and about as potent. They are kept dark, airtight and at room temp.
Flathead, thank you so much for replying. I forgot I'd had these, and I was reluctant to take any for fear of them making me feel ill, and thought they wouldn't work for my pain. Send them to you? Nada! Sorry, but I would if I had a bunch.
Thanks again for your help, and hope you have a nice relaxing evening, pain free!

This is not a recommendation etc etc but if they don't smell or look funny they're unlikely to do you any harm. They may have lost a bit of potency but probably not much.
I've bought expired meds from pharmacists before, "What's a sell-by date?" they always say. "About half-price", I reply.

Can someone please tell me what strength this pill is... white oblong, scored, watson 385 ? I am sure it's hydro, but not sure on the strength. I found two of them in the bottom of my medicine basket. Thanks for any info. Take care!

Hello everyone,
I have a general question about a type of generic hydro and I am hoping some here will be able to help. Does anyone know if the Amneal Pharmaceuticals generic hydro is any good? By any good I mean effective and free of undesired side-effects.
I ask because a friend of mine gets really sick from taking the dreaded Mallinckrodt pharmaceuticals generic Vicodin. He gets migraine-like headaches, sick to his stomach, etc. He tolerates brand and Watson and Qualitest hydro just fine.
If anyone has taken Amneal hydro and can speak to what to expect, it would be much appreciated.

Guatemalan hydrocodone is "Kodone". I think they come with 7.5mg of hydro and 325mg of APAP. They even come in blister packs. I've never tried one, but I hear they are the next best thing if you can't get a domestic brand.

My dentists (Indian) gives me 5/500. My fiances doctor gave her about 100 of the m358's along with 60 darvocets after pregnancy. She wouldn't touch them, but they came in handy for pack and neck pain over the past year. Finally they are gone.
I would love to be able to get my hands on some more hydrocodone at REASONABLE prices. 30 for $210 just seems outrageous. I don't have a toothache either. I'm at a loss.

OK. So you are talking about using someone else's meds and want to get more meds with no records and no medical reason. I am pretty sure that this is against the Rules here.

My girlfriend suffers from chronic back pain like me.Problem is she can't tolerate any kind of hydrocodone very well.It makes her very sick to her stomach and makes her vomit as well.Even on really small doses like 5mg or less.Is it just her body chemistry or is there a digestive aid that might help? Any opinions or suggestions appreciated.

oh yeah. Watsons are the best and IMO just like name brand. I have to open my bottle at the drug store to make sure they have not switched brands as Watsons are expensive I have been told.
Avoid Mallies at all costs and try to take any others with food, it might help. Also, don't leave the RX without checking your tabs. They may look at you funny, but it is your health and a month of agony from headaches and nausea. I had to get my MD to write a letter to RX to refill wilh name brand after getting Mallies once and he had to attest that he was in possession and destroying the Mallies. If you leave the RX, they won't take them back. Good luck.

Ask the doctor to switch her to straight oxycodone pills with no aspirin or APAP. There are a couple of brands. Ethex is the one I've had. If she still gets sick on that, she had better look for a non opium based product for relief.
My wife has that same problem. The doctor gave her dilaudid after knee replacement surgery and it seemed to make her less sick than hydros or percs, but even with them she fought the need to take one at all costs. She is a wonder to me.
I am having a similar problem with not having enough to get through the month. how do you get by? i always end up in the ER when im out. which seems to be drn near every month. I have had gastric bypass and my absorbtion is different than most. good part is i absorb it quickly bad part is i lose it just as fast. some something that should last me for 6 hours is barely lasting 3. so here i am searching for additional med to help make it through the barren times with out having to go to ER every month. Suggestions please!! Of course i am new here and trying to figure out how this all works. thank you everyone. oh are we allowed to give personal emails out? i dont remember reading that part in the Rules. thanks Tasha
