gabie,

Maybe this news flash is what caused your Beatles and Rolling Stones faux pas.

Valium Sales Skyrocket in Sadr City EzineArticles

Sadr City is a suburb of Baghdad which was built in 1959. It was originally called Revolution City after the Beatles Song “Revolution”

And you have a great afternoon too gabie!

I have been hearing this for years, and even made the assumption on my own when I first tried Valium after taking Valerian for years.I have never been able to substantiate it through studies/evidence though.

Do you have any reference to that at all, either on the web or in texts/books?

In these days, I think everyone needs a little valium \:\)
It will take your stress away and put you to sleep. Valium is weak in potency compared to other benzos, but it's effective for people who don't have a high tolerance.

The vending machine in that last cartoon would have to be filled 100 times a day.

It would be nice to have bars, that instead of selling alcohol, just sold mellowing sedatives like Valium, and maybe a few empathagens like opiates.

JokerOwling,

This came from a textbook. When I get to school tomorrow, I'll look it up. It was a textbook on the Research and Development of Benzos

Re:- my decision of X or Vs
Sorry and thank you, didnt reply earlier, I didnt see your replies.

So yeah, best to stay away from the old Xanax then, ashame because I could really do with a helping hand just now, perhaps Ill find another anti anxiety drug with less problems for me. With benzos I always find myself buying them, thinking Ill control how I use them, but unfortunatley I really am not very good at that at all.

Thanks again
Ross.

That's yet another reason not to use alprazolam. It's probably the dose of diazepam that needs adjusting.

Either 2mg or 5mg, depending on weight, sex, previous benzodiazepine use, and other factors.

NOT 10mg!

if you are not used to taking the drug? then why would you want to start?

anxiety is best treated with counseling and cognetive therapy.Learning to cope will get you further and last alot longer than a pill.

using a drug to feel more comfortable when nervous situations appear will always lead to depending on that drug, and then you are an addict and not just dependent.
its far better to learn how to deal with whatever it is that bothers you, or if the situation is short term then counseling is certainly the solution.
i would advise anyone that has not started using benzos, not to begin. Same with pain meds. Without a Drs care and instruction you will end up in a place that you wont enjoy. Stress will be the least of your worries...

hi hey,

I live in southern california, san diego, I've been prescribed valium -(in mexico) before to treat muscle pain in my back, and to use sometimes just to get a good night's rest. In the past I would have ordered it from an IOP, but the risk of criminal prosecution is as I understand too great now. So, I guess my question is, is there an efficient means to find a local doctor that will write a prescription for valium. I've just had great results with this medication, but I also understand nowadays many doctors are reluctant to prescribe this medication especially to me, i'm only 34, I heard they are more likely to write a prescription if your much older, anyway off topic rant now but... It really is too bad that a medication that has been used so widely and for so long and that works so effectively is now in a way subjected to a kind of cultural climate of increased self policing/prohibition among healthcare providers/doctors based largely on fear and anecdotal horror stories.

Diazepam (IPA: /daɪˈćzɨpćm/), first marketed as Valium by Hoffmann-La Roche, is a benzodiazepine derivative drug. It possesses anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative, skeletal muscle relaxant and amnestic properties. It is commonly used for treating anxiety, insomnia, seizures, muscle spasms, alcohol withdrawal and benzodiazepine withdrawal. It may also be used before certain medical procedures (such as endoscopies) to reduce tension and anxiety, and in some surgical procedures to induce amnesia.

Diazepam is a core medicine in the World Health Organization's "Essential Drugs List", which is a list of minimum medical needs for a basic health care system.[3] Diazepam is used to treat a wide range of conditions and has been one of the most frequently prescribed medications in the world for the past 40 years. It was first synthesized by Dr. Leo Sternbach

Everything has the potential for abuse, and that's not a good reason to stop having sex, or eating food either.

It is certainly not a drug that's likely to kill you. In fact when taken as prescribed alone -(not mixed with an opioid or alcohol) it is near impossible to overdose, though ridiculous doses may result in a couple days of sleep, and prolonged high dosages can cause damage to liver, kidneys, -and when discontinuing a regular use of a high dosage one should wean, it really is a very safe and effective medication.

It's not selective enough to be used for back pain, unless your back has completely seized and confined you to bed. The hypnotic, anxiolytic and addiction/abuse potential means that the risks outweigh the benefits.

It also will not just relax specific muscles, but all skeletal muscle, meaning the supportive action provided by, for example, the abdominal muscles on the lower back, is lost. This can result ultimately in poor posture and worse back pain.

Dantrolene is a better choice, if the spacticity is ongoing, and the underlying cause will need to be treated.

I know you get what you pay for and probably know the answer to this question but wanted to get some feedback on it because ive never tried it yet, Ive had the famous roche 10mg (yummy) plenty of times , and you see these generic blue ones for like 50cent a piece and they are scored with the number 10 and one line through it kinda like the roche with no name on it , has anyone actually tried these and are they worth buying?

i would say the lethal dose has to be over 5000 mg for most people...just a guess though. if you wanted to die probably a bottle of red wine and twenty six seconals would be easier . i cant remember who did this maybe jimmi hendrix? anyone know?

i think your fine if you take the recommened therapeutic dose for your condition. this would be anywhere from two mg a day 3-4 times to 10 mg a day 3-4 times.

About 20 years ago I was taking valium on a regular basis, 5-10 mg a day. It relaxed me, relieved my anxiety, and just generally made me feel good.

I have recently started taking it again but it makes me so sleepy I cannot take it during the day. I only take 2.5 mg and I have to go to bed. At first I thought it was my low tolerance but I've been taking 2.5 mg a night for a few weeks with the same results. 20 years ago it was the Roche brand with the cut-out 'V'. Now it's still Roche but the solid scored tablets. I wonder why the difference?
Thanks!
