Just curious about why this place needs a social security number? I've never had to provide that to an op. It's no one's business in a medical arena where they will never need to report you to the credit agencies for nonpayment.

They have no reason to have your social security number. Your payment is sufficient. If they insist, move on.

PLease everyone, read their home page carefully.

Our objective is to help our patients manage their common complaints, which often involve pain. The pain our patients experience stems from a host of similar conditions, most of which are related to joint/tendon inflammation and/or nerve damage/inflammation.
Our referred physicians have seen wonderful results from the use of Neuropathic and Anti-Inflammatory creams and ointments.
Short term: The relief a patient sees from treatment with these products is pain relief which increases with use. The body is a wonderful mechanism that absorbs the medications through the skin and stores the medication at the site of the problem. As the product is used, these medications build in the tissues to a level that produces pain relief without any systemic side effects.

Long term: Because the medication is being absorbed through the skin in specific transfer mediums there is no metabolism of the medications through the liver. The body does not have to change the medication to a usable form, thus no other organs are involved in the pain relief process. This facilitates the body to work healthier and in turn will enable a better healing process. There are no GI side effects, which ultimately can prevent future treatment of peptic ulcers.

This is from the home page and i would hate to go through all the effort and money only to be faced with what every other Dr has said, they can control the pain with "other" ways than meds. It sounds like a bunch of baloney to me!

Hi Stevo1 and Dixie Chick

Thanks for your postings regarding the creams that the doctors can offer.

We are just saying that they do offer the creams as this is something that not all doctors are prescribing at the moment.

Of course they are able to offer narcotics but they do try to give our customers as many options as possible.

I hope that this helps and answers your question.

Thanks
Alison

Some states, like Hawaii, require a SS# for controlled meds.

F2FDOC - do you know if you will have any doctors in the Seattle/Portland area in the near future?

Gene, I posted that three months ago, the topic has really moved on since then, but it is still against the law to use social security number for identification purposes. Let alone the damage that continues to be done by identity theft. Your drivers license and birth certificate or any other qualifying ID mandated to get a drivers license is enough proof of your identity. I know you don't make the laws, but the federal government does make the law about SS number not being lawful to use as proof of identity. I imagine identity is what any state is trying to establish in these cases.

You are right. The pharmacy can ask you for your SSN but you don't have to give it to them. A driver's license number will work just as well.

I didn't realize that this thread was three months old. I wsa just commenting based on my experience. When I lived in Hawaii I was required to give the pharmacy my SS# to fill my klonopin. When I questioned them, they said it was state law. Also, I was hoping to find out if this OCS had any docs in the Pacific NW.

I have posted comments in several thread on this issue in the past. Here in Mississippi you frequently have give your SSN for various reasons (like writing a check most places, or picking up controlled meds from some pharmacies) and they will not usually accept DL# instead, if it is different. Mine is not, my DL is my SSN, I requested the change the last two times and it has not changed yet.

After many here insisted no one could insist I give this info, I tried refusing.
The reply I always receive is that no, I do not have to give it to them, but they reserve the right to refuse service to me if I do not. This has happened now for medical services, dental services, picking up controlled medications, buying Sudafed, enrolling my youngest daughter in a new school, making her a doctor's appointment, cashing a check at my bank, and writing checks numerous places.
