When we post feedback on a purchase and provide details such as what was ordered, date purchased, date sent, date arrived, etc. I don't think it would be too hard for an IOP to figure out who you are on here. It has actually happened to me that an IOP that had figured out who I was based on a feedback post asked me have another post changed or deleted. Advice?

I have seen that happen to friends and posters. I will not post anything that I wouldn't tell them sraight to them. I really wouldn't post If I have anything to loose at all. Never but never give out your real name. That would not stop le from doing what they want but it would be yet another layer of bs to get to you. I see that if the majority of the members/consumers are receiving they do not want to hear anything else, especially if they know the board is being monitored and other factors that I will not bother with now.

So really the least amount of posting appears to be the most advantagous for many reasons. Unless you just want to suck up to the monitor/op.

Stagger your info. Don't run from the mailbox to the keyboard. It is up to you how to post. Anyone looking for names and addresses is (probably) not to be trusted.

O.K. that is really (as has been said by others) creepy that a quick google search of my username comes up with my profile page and posts. My username is actually a combination of a mispelled word and a typo so mine is really unique. I tried to fix it once 5 or 6 years ago but got locked out and couldn't sign in until I contacted Admin.

Is there any way to change that without getting locked out or having to start all over accumulating posts?

My user name also comes up on a google and I used my real name!!!!!! Man thats what I get for being a ingornant newbie!!!!! LOL When I registered I didnt realize it would show up on the board. Dang......I contacted the admin and hopefully I can change to a different user. I could just kick myself LOL

Musician - I agree about being anonymous - to protect oneself. BUT, do we need to be paranoid? Maybe yes? People want to connect with one another. Is that just wishful thinking? If so, please tell me.

PW Rain I wish I had good advice. I answered a pm from someone I did not know. She was here a long time. I saw many posts and none were anything to make me suspicious of her. She had a very warm personality and we wrote back and forth. Suddenly she said she was laid up and she could not get her pills she was unable to care for her small children one a baby. We both ordered from the same place. She told me what she needed and I ordered it explaining to our source what I was doing. She promised to have her DH pay me when he returned home by sending the source a credit in my name. It was not my real name I used I am lucky about that.

The result was I lost $400. However when I told the source what happened he sent me her name and address and all info on her. I outed her on this site. I was not alone in losing money. Admin helped in every way banning her.

Since that time I am very careful. I admit I have made some wonderful friends here. My mistake was paying for her order. I would never do that again.

Yet she was successful in doing that to many.

So I would say don't give out your phone number or your real name and never help anyone with money problems. It was foolish of me because I could not afford to do it.

I have always been the type to trust others and I try not to be rude.

I hope I can still accomplish that. I am working on it but this latest NBG thing has me thinking about how members can be so deceiving.

I think in life if we loose all faith in people we loose out on meeitng some great people, but with that said, we all have to be careful, especially and i say that very seriouse especially on a site like this. However, I have no problem people PMING me or chatting. It is my choice what information I give them. I was involved with a health board years ago, and honestly be it on line or real life there are scammers out there, who will on you. I recantly in my local area took dinners to the needy at the holidays, and once I got there, I realized they were full of [censored]. If you can afford ciggaretts you sure can afford food for your kid, or give it up. But that is my opinion, or stop going out to eat or what ever. Anyway, never feel bad if you feel you were scammed.Feel pity for the sick slug who did it to you. I truly believe what comes around goes around. Over my years on line, I have given my cell out a few times and made some great friends as well as had a nasty stalker or two who started out normal then well sure fooled me. I am a very non trusting person due to that, but I still give someone a chance, but only once. But this particular place, I see many differant types of people, some I would avoid like the plague and others are here for the same reason I am or so it seems but all JMOP so I totally understand all views. We have to remember we tell our kids to be careful with strangers so we need to follow our own advice

I know what you mean about giving to people who smoke. Cigarettes are so expensive.

Last year our church asked for donations for a family. They said they were struggling. They had on their list a video recorder and videos, electronics, and expensive items. I was annoyed. Yet the members did collect the money and gave them the items. They never were at church and they lived close by.

But I feel if truly in need I think the kids need clothes and food before video games but what do I know lol lol. But I kind of feel this way as well, if someone wants to find out who I am and has to feel the need to look me up that is going to be on them, but not going to give them to much information lol. Who can blame you. This NBG thing brought back a lot of bad memories for me. It is so sad when a person has a big heart and then they get hurt.

What angered me even more was he turned the tables and lied about you. I had the same thing with Perez. They want to draw the attention away from themselves.

They are sociopaths and actually feel proud they pulled it off.

The only thing you should ever put up is a username and not anything close to your real name. Even birth dates are more than you should disclose. Over time these little bits of real information from diffent sites can be assembled to give a crook enough info to steal your identity and cause havoc.

i agree... but patty is a pretty common name. not like she used Patty Leah Van Dykenpopple as her UN... but again, i do agree with you and would hope that admin will help with her request.

I believe, if we let "low lifes" change us, that they, in effect, control us. There will always be these "people" who try to take advantage, but do not give in to the urge to become cynical - that takes away from quality of life so much.

There are about a dozen here that I trust.

I agree music is therapy. It can certainly change a person's mood.
