That actually does not sound so bizarre. I have had a few different patients tell me that they open the capsules and chase them with warm water. The general opinion seems to be that the compounds do take longer to get into the system and they have less of an initial kick, so to speak, but that they offer a much longer period of pain releif. I see a lot of people going into their second consults still wanting the compounds so I imagine it's just a bit of getting used to it.

Perhaps this is more for the feedback area but I just wanted to say I just requested my first refill a few days ago. The request made during the night, but the system is automated so there was no problem. Upon coming home from work the following day I had an email and a tracking number (a WORKING tracking number). Next day, there it was, perfect.

I actually was hoping to use these folks because of the compounding. My pain is helped more with asprin than with Tylenol and and always has been. Like Fiorinal works far better than Fioricet (for me) so I usually take a Norco and add an asprin. I was hoping I could get them to offer to compound 15/80 or 15/325 (too much does make the ears ring) but when I suggested it during my consult I was told that Hydro is "made" with tylenol or Vicoprofin is with ibuprofin (didn't say they prescribed it, just that it is made) - my luck, I am allergic to that anyway. But, I thought when you compounded you could change the make up and that did not just mean cutting down the tylenol but actually changing the mixture. So I am back to a Norco (sometimes 1 and a half) AND an asprin. Does anyone know if it is possible to get anyone to either compound or script for hydro with asprin?

Back to ERMeds, don't take the above as a complaint in any way, it was pure complement. The consult and the refill process were very smooth.

OK, again I am waiting on a call back from the pharmacist at AVEE.I do know they do a 10/5 and a 15/5 hyrdo/dex compound but I was under the impression that there was APAP in that as well. Sit tight...I'll becak as soon as the phone rings with a definate answer.

One quick mention Farmer.... The practitioners here will not try and direct you toward a specific med without good reason. I hope you do not feel as though you were not allowed the option to discuss the compound and request what you think will work for you. I am so sorry if that is the case.I will behappy to put you back in touch with the doctor if you would like.

I have been w/NWW for a while and it is now time for a new consult. I have been very, very impressed with the feed back about ERMEDS and want to give you guys a try. However, I need to get my M/O sent out tonight but I am not getting cooperation from my primary care docs office about getting a copy of my complete physical exam. I do have a current copy of my progress notes from my specialist that states my condition and medication he has prescribed. Is the physical exam form something I can fax in later? Allrighty...got it now.
If you are sensitive to any amount of APAP or IBU you can get a Hydro/Dextromethorphine (sp?)
This is absent of the above components and just a heads up from the pharmacist...they have a synergistic effect (1+1=3) so if you have not had them before it is recommended that you see how they affect you before you take one and then say ...go perform brain surgery or work on intricate machinery at a nuclear power plant.
He ( the pharmacist) has had patients call him unnerved with the initial effect because it packs a bit of an oomph (that was his word, not mine)
So give a call in Farmer and we can help you out.

Thanks for the reply and for the research on the compounding. No, I didn't feel I was short changed, I simply had asked the question as was told that hydro was mixed with either APAP or Motrin (Vicoprofin). I never went to the next step to ask if they have or ever would consider a comp with something other than those two.

I actually have a refill left with my regular 10/325 (non-compounded) so it will be a couple of months before I call in for another consult, but I do appreciate your checking up on this - again customer service can not be beat!

As far as the Dextromethorphine, wow, that's rather interesting. I never heard of that combination before. For the person who asked what that is, the most common use is for cough. It is actually the D in Vicks Formula 44-D.
I'm not sure that I would personally go that route, but it's just me. From the post hear I assume the reason for that compound is that the pain relief of the hydro is multiplied by the Dext. For me it is not really that the Hydro is not strong enough - but that Asprin is an anti-Inflammatory, and the pain that I have is largely tied to inflammation, so asprin simply help reduce swelling, while hydro helps to reduce pain. So I think I may just stick with the Norco + a Bayer asprin.

I’m really wondering who here angered the gods... I hope it wasn’t me... Any ways we’re doing all the proper rituals and sacrifices to appease said gods. We apologize for any delays caused by this unfortunate and slightly bizarre happenstance.



Luckily we have a new P.A. (who’s first day may just send him running for the hills.)

The consults are getting done, and as of this post, it looks like they will be done on time. Again I apologize for any problems any of you may have had. Good afternoon everyone..
Thank you all who waited patiently for your consults yesterday. With 2 practitioners down and one covering for all, you can imagine what a crazy day it was. The angst was so minimal among the members it was almost surreal....of course I was actually out of the office so I missed most of it. I spent the day at the Shriner's Hosital with my son and Rod kept me updated every step of the way.
We are back to a nearly full staff today and everything seems to be running exactly on schedule.

Maxx is fine. We thought perhaps he may need a back brace to align him a bit since his ribcage overextends on one side. They seem to think his spine is well aligned so they scrapped the brace idea. We also thought he needed to be fitted for new DAFO's but good news on the front as well. He needs no further bracing and his walker is ordered and should be here within 3 weeks.
As soon as he gets this new walker, I fully plan to devise a way to hook the vaccuum up to the fron of it so he can start earning his keep a little. If all goes well, next year it's the lawnmower...LOL..no reason a 7 year old shouldn't be working for a living huh??

Hello, anyone at ERMeds. I just had a quick question. My refill date falls on March 12, which is a Saturday. Is Avee open on Saturdays for shipping packages for Monday delivery. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

AVEE is not open to ship on Saturdays, however if your refill does fall on a saturday they are usually pretty good about allowing it to be shipped on Friday. Call the office the morning of the 11th and we can put the request in to AVEE for you.

Kimberly, I'm curious...how much would the hydro/dextromethorphine (?sp?) cost? I'm looking for an option to get away from the APAP...

To be honest with you we never actually get exact prices on compounds since the price varies according to the materials wholesale cost at the pharm. I will give AVEE a call and get an estimate the second I have a moment but to the best of my knowledge the APAP compounds are not terrible different in price to the prefabs so I can't imagine the dex would be either.
I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I just got off the phone with Rod from ERmeds, he was helping me with a problem, but he said that the ERmeds account here at DB is locked out or something to that effect. So any messages that you've PM'd him at the old account will not get read for a few days or at all. He opened a new account, but is not allowed to post from that account for three days, so if you send him a message on the boards, you won't get a response for a few days. You can PM him and he can get back to you that way, or you can call their 800 #. His username now is RodatERMeds and you can PM to that username.

Also if someone would be willing to paste this over to the VIP side, he said he would appreciate it.
