Hey, what about none of the above?

And what do you mean by a "chemists own pain tablets"??

I would choose what I have already on my dresser than any of your options. Or is this supposed to be if we don't have anything else?
Yes I am nit picking

Well, if I was a Chemist and had every chemical known to a druggist . . . .

I would start off with a witch’s caldron. Big enough to make 10 million doses (I would imagine that should last me my entire life [or at least what’s left of it]). Each dose would consist of OxyCodone IR, 40 milligrams; Valium, 20 milligrams; Methaqualone 300 milligrams in a nice tasty syrup. All the ingredient I listed would take one shot glass to equal a dose.

I’d be out of my pain and misery and comfy enough to watch Judge Judy. I wish I would have gone to pharmacy school. I would have made a great pharmacist!

Ahhhh, just to dream . . . . . .

If I were a chemist I'd make carfentanyl , just add a WHOLE lot of lactose to it. Here's the WiKi on it:

Carfentanil or Carfentanyl (R33799) is an analogue of the popular synthetic opioid analgesic fentanyl, and is one of the most potent opioids known (also the most potent opioid used commercially). Carfentanil was discovered by Janssen Pharmaceutica. It has a quantitative potency approximately 10,000 times that of morphine and 100 times that of fentanyl, activity in humans starting at about 1 μg. It is marketed under the trade name Wildnil as a tranquilizer for large animals.[1] Carfentanil is intended for animal use only as its extreme potency makes it inappropriate for use in humans.

Think about it, 1 mg to 9,999 mg of lactose to make 1 mg morphine equivalent. Some VERY powerful stuff.

There's hardly any difference between the 1st 2 (2mg codeine). It's a good idea for a survey, just a bit strange that the 1st 3 choices are low-dose codeine/non-narcotic combinations and then comes a powerful opioid agonist/antagonist.

I feel that codeine doesn't really have any noticeable analgesic effect until it reaches 30-60mg, so it would have to be the buprenorphine.

The hard to find stuff still works the best, for the most part - hydrocodone. 10/325.

On a really bad day, not much of anything works.

60 mgs. codeine works fair.

Of course I'm talking daily, decades long, unrelenting pain, with now a high tolerance for meds.

I think I might take the chemist's own choice as it is probably something pretty good!!!

Fentanyl works great but I don't like the side effects, doggone it. Pain clinic had given it to me, when I had to go there for almost a year. What a pain (pun intended) that was. But they were very good, very nice, and not afraid to prescribe AT ALL!!!

For me, I'd take 2 T3's over a Norco 10/325 any day. I know they're supposed to be equal- I use that term loosely. 60mg's Codeine, relieves my pain better but constipates and make me much more nauseous. I've had hydromorphone, morphine, fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone, dihydrocodeine, methadone and codeine-All US, good brands BTW, except the dihydro., obviously. Hydro would be my first choice, in doses above 20mg's, 90% of the time, I'm in pain.

The items in the poll aren't even pain relievers, in my book.

Snickers bar, pack of smokes, some DVD's, half can of Cherry Pepsi (good stuff), Winnie the Pooh, and my Spiderman and Fantastic Four boxers (Yes, I really am an adult.. )

That's about it, that I can think of besides my bottle of 10/325's..

30-60mg??
well, my tolerance must be way up - 400mg between Codeisan & Perduretas is just cutting it for me. [censored] the DEA and its war on doctors and CP patients. Dilaudid would handle me just fine but nooooo I have to go overseas to get the best they can send---codeine!!!

Your tolerance is indeed high, but it is said that the body can only convert 200-300mg of codeine into morphine at any time, so you could be wasting 100-200mg of the codeine.

Not much of a choice in the poll; the only really effective one listed is Temgesic (buprenorphine 0,2mg).
I use OxyContin, so would probably have had that at the top of the poll. They are, in conjunction with diclofenac, an NSAID, the best med I have ever been prescribed for my arthritis.
And what is 'Chemist's Own Brand'? Aspirin? Ibuprofen? Paraceamol? Compounded dihydrocodeine or codeine? Because you simply can not get a really effective analgesic OTC at a chemist anywhere in the Western world.

temgesic is good for the right purpose. I found it helpful after being on suboxone for a few days. If you plan on using temgesic to replace a 300mg of oxy a day habit, you will need close to a 200-300 of the .2mg to detox off the oxy. I am guessing of course about the amount of the temgesics, but I know it would take alot.

I have no idea how to vote on that. Is that a UK list?

Dilaudid !! Nothing like it.

Yes I experimented with those when my mom died
of throat cancer. Seemed like an odd name
so I was curious to experiment/sample..
Knocked me down for a whole day with little remembrance.
Will not experiment again but those were the days of the 80's
w/o internet so you couldn't look up the med on google
to see what in fact they were.Wish I had!!

"Chemist's Own" is a brand name down in AU. They make most of those. I've seen them on IOP sites.
No experience though.

Yes, it is a strange list. Personally, there are days when I hurt so bad I wish I could just hook up an IV and medication pump full of morphine and valium. I have been given this combo a few times after I had surgery and I didn't have a care in the world.
