Hi all, I was wondering what the word was on taking both phentermine & Wellbutrin together. I've looked online a lot, but am finding conflicting information. I am on 30mg phentermine, and WAS on 300 Wellbutrin XL, but stopped a week before I got my phentermine. Now, however, I am feeling like I should go back on my Wellbutrin because I can feel the effects of being off of it (I didn't mind stopping because I didn't think Wellbutrin was helping me at all... apparently it was?) Does anyone have any information or experience? Thank you so much. (Sorry to double post, I didn't know where this belonged. One can be deleted.)

I would call like a local pharmacy and just ask them. Or walk in one.

I would not take them together because they both are a stimulant. When I ask my psychiatrist about Wellbutrin for my anxiety she told me it was a stimulant. Also I have a friend that was taking Wellbutrin and started taking phentermine and got really bad heart palpitations. But always be sure to ask your doc if you are still wondering.

I take zoloft(100mg), wellbutrin(300mg) and phentermine(37.5mg) and it's been no problem for me.My diet Dr knows that I take the zoloft and wellbutrin and said it was fine.

I have taken wellbutrin, phentermine and lexapro for years and have had no problems whatsoever. My doctor prescribed all of these for me and said they were safe together.

Just wondering if any of you noticed weight gain after wellbutrin. I started taking it a year ago, and the last several months the weight has been creeping up. I am now 15 pounds heavier. Not fat but would like to control this before it gets out of hand. Thinking of getting off the wellbutrin am already eating health diet and lots of water.

Any thoughts?

i have actually heard that wellbutrin will help you lose weight. basically since it makes you happy, you dont eat as much. i have also seen this being combined with phen as a weight loss plan by some Dr.s. kinda like phen-pro(phentermine combined with prozac)

I have been on wellbutrin now for 2 weeks, and It had helped with overeating. My best friend is on phentermine and wellbutrin and she lost 11 pounds in 3 months.

Wellbutrin, hydro, and bactrim is all i take. So trying to see which one is responsible for the weight, surely it isnt the food. Maybe I wil stop the bactrim and see if this weight falls off.

I have walked 40 minutes a day and changed my diet a few weeks ago, but a friend pointed out that maybe it was some of the medicine causing me to be more hungry that is why i asked.

I have 2 friends taking wellbutrin. The one has lost 35 lbs. in 6 months.
The other is taking it along with phentermine and has lost 90 lbs. in 8 months. I guess it doesn't work for everyone but does for some.

I lost weight taking Wellbutrin. I also started exercisiing and eating healthier meals (and very limited amounts of junk food). Wellbutrin seems to give me more energy.

I take a very high dose of Wellbutrin. I know that Tenuate is closely related to Wellbutrin and both can cause seizures at high doses, hence that combination should be made with extreme caution, however I don't know about phentermine, but I'm looking for it and am willing to find out.

Never stop any antidepressant suddenly. Even if you go off slowly, it's possible your depression will return if you've had more than one bout in your lifetime. I've been on various antidepressants, always at least two, if not three, for over 20 continuous years and many times before that before my doctors and I accepted that it was chronic. No biggie.

I lost taking Wellbutrin. It however, made me have trouble sleeping. Personally, I couldn't take both Wellbutrin and Phentermine together because I, personally, would never fall asleep. But they are safe to take together.

If you're a smoker and go on wellbutrin and suddenly the cigs taste "harsh", it is the wellbutrin. It is actually prescribed to help quit smoking but for that it is called zyban, but the ingredients are exactly the same.

For me, I felt a little less hungry and definitely didn't sleep as well. It seemed I never slept deeply. I took it for about three months for smoking and then just stopped as my doctor didn't say I had to taper or anything.

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg and Phentermine 30mg for a year now, along with 50 mg Topamax, and everything has been totally fine. I had been taking Wellbutrin XL for over 3 years prior to starting Phentermine, but I have taken Phen on and off for years as well.
