I am new to the board,So please exscuse my Mistakes. My Problem is, I have Been Taking Percocet 5/325 For about 5-6 mths.now but was changed to Lortabs 10/mgms Today. Maybe It's Because My body has not had time to adjust, but I have had (HORRIBLE!)migraine's and extreme anxiety all day long!
Could anyone tell me if this is normal?..will it gradually Fade?..as far as pain control, it seems to be working fine but I also take Anti-anxiety meds, the last thing i need is drug-Induced panic Attacks!!...I'f anyone could offer me some advice, I't would be (GREATLY)appreciated.I'm not in the situation as of now to Change my pain meds. back to the percs.....Will this fade away gradually if I continue My script??????.......Thanks much.....sanking111

I've never heard of anything like that. I suppose it's possible that you react differently to hydrocodone (Lortab)than to oxycodone (Percocet), but they're such closely related drugs that I can't imagine them causing this problem when the Percocet didn't. Is it possible that your symptoms are not related to the medication change?

My experience was that 10 mg. Lortabs just work a lot better than 5 mg. Percocets, but qualitatively the effects were very similar.

I hope you feel better soon.

Peace,
Jack

I have fought aniexty probs for many years. Please talk to your doc and consider trying a beta blocker! i agree with earlier response, your reaction may have nothing to do with the pain med switch

I have the same reactions with Lortab/Norco. I take Percocet for BT pain and when I try to take Lortab or Norco I get an instant headache, kind of like too much caffiene? I know there isn't any caffiene in it but the feeling is the same for me. I also get like a ringing in my ears. Myabe it's just us cause not very many other people seem to have this reaction. But, you are not alone. I had to go back to the percocet. The headaches got worse and worse for me. I also got like a hangover feeling from them? You may just have that kind of reaction to it. Everyone is different but I would definitely go back to the Percocet if you can. Your body may be telling you that it is not for you. Ask your doctor. Better safe than risky.

Hey sank,

I have no problems switching from Perc's to hydrocodone- I do it from time to time because sometimes I just need a different medication. Anyway, I used to take Lortab as well and also got the horrible, horrendous headaches. I switched to Norco rather than the Lortab and have no headaches associated with it- weird given it's essentially the same meds, just a little more apap, but that's exactly what happened to me.

Good luck to you!

I've been taking norco's for awhile, and was switched to percs by my doc awhile back and I felt soooo crappy! I know it's the opposite of what you said, but the principal is the same. I think our bodies adjust to one kind of med, and when it's taken away, our bodies let us know it doesn't like it!! I took the percs for a week, then just threw the rest out and told my doc I wanted switched back. Considering this was a less potent pain med I was wanting, he had no probs w/it.

I am probably wrong....but I thought that "percocets" had the aspirin instead of the tylenol....I thought the ones with tylenol was "percodan"

Just the opposite, fuzzy. Percodan has aspirin, percocet has apap.

Not sure how many you take a day, but it's possible to get a "rebound" headache from too much apap. I know it's only 175mgs more per pill, that's why I said maybe. I would think all will be fine in a day or two as far as headaches go. Could just be a coincedence, maybe the weather, sinus, nerves. Who knows, but I don't think it's the hydro.

Good Luck.

Thanks to you all for your help. This site is realy great. First, let me say, it seems the headaches are getting better. However...It is still causing me more anxiety. I just feel "flighty", Which in turn is causing my anti-anxiety meds less efficient..(Thats not good). I am on a beta-blocker as well. Think i will talk w/ my doctor though. The last thing I need is a another trip to the E.R room for yet another panic attack!.....Thanks to you all...............Sandra
