The driver will tell you to just make it out to "Century".
Isn't leaving it blank kind of setting up the customer? Much like a blank check with your signature on it? I'd feel pretty uncomfortable with that...Or is it that the driver will tell you exactly what to write in? I'm thinking no one would just hand over a blnak MO or check or that FedEx or UPS would want responsibilty for a blank MO??
I've never done a COD - so pardon my ignorance here but, I just would want all things filled out to completion. In my own handwriting and done is done, right? Or am I missing something here?
whta does it matter if it is filled out or not Im sure the mo doesnt go back to the diorect party they ups put it in a big fund and pay whoever the amount owed what do you think they make a trip back to the starting point to give them your money order. If you get your meds how can you be set up if it says santa claus on it the ups guy is not giving you the package without a cod why would they care if its filled out or no just as long as its the right amount. What if the ups guy now takes the blank check and goes and cashes it himself you ve got youre package what are they going to say you didnt give your money?

My UPS driver was very particular about a money order I gave him once, wouldn't accept an abbreviation only on the Pay To line...had me write in the complete name of the recipient, he said, "just to make sure it's all cool."
I think it's weird to have someone leave one blank. Makes sense if it's one of these NROP sketchy outfits, but seems way illegal and way too risky.
I'm sorry, but I can't see how leaving a money order blank in the 'pay to' line is in any way illegal? It's their money & you're paying them. They can make it out however they choose.
There have been a couple of times where I simply forgot to write in who to make it out to & I've never had a problem - neither did FedEX/UPS.
I just don't do things half a***ed. I have found that of you do, then you indeed will fall short somewhere if you ever need to proof of your transaction.
And no, I am not stupid enough to think they go back to the "starting point" and give the MO. But I AM smart enough to know that if you don't fill it out correctly then the funds may not be distributed properly and YOU may be left with a problem.
I wouldn't want my UPS or FedEX driver to be in any trouble because I made my MO out to "Santa Claus" and that wasn't correct - lets say my driver is in a hurry and knows me to be intelligent and always on when it comes to business transactions - but this one time I pull a bonehead move and make it out incorrectly and he or she doesn't catch it, then that means another trip for him or her and another trip for me to get a corrected MO. Seems like one who is responsible just finds out all the info necessary and does the right thing.
I'm sure there is nothing illegal about it, but it sounds fishy. Maybe they have several companies that deposit money. If something is COD, they won't leave the package if they don't get money, that's all I would worry about. And I'm sure a blank mo would do that.

When the driver arrives, ask, "To whom do I make this out to?" He/She will either know and say, "Century" (that is what I was told when I picked it up and it is on the package) or they will say they don't know. In which case, you can leave it blank if you want.

Yeah, Irie...I agree with your post...
Maybe "illegal" was a poor choice of words, Scarlett. I was more concerned with not making out the M.O. and then finding out the money didn't make it where I wanted it to go, or some such thing. Kind of like someone else said...just leaving a blank check out there, hanging, somewhere, for anyone to pick up.
Seems like the people who take CODs would want them written in, as well. Strange. Guess we'll never know!

A close friend on mine is a UPS driver and she told me they have an account that pays the companies that require MO's, so in other owrds you can leave it blank or even make it out to UPS and it all goes where it's supposed to. FedEx is the same.

the drivers also punch the number that the M.O. was issued and printed on it, into their machines right in front of you. it is all computerized and it sends it back to Fedex or UPS so they know where and how much to send the shipper. You can also look at your tracking # the next day and it will track the delivery of your funds back to the shipper, & then you have the name of the person who signed for it..for instance the person who signs for pkgs at Century's last name is Sosa.... any relation to Samy? haha

pay to the order of doesn't scare me as much as "payment from" just in case there watching you they can see how many ops's your dealing with. besides my UPS guy puts my mo rite into a pre addressed envelope back to the op. Tim
