They make 3 delivery attempts and then it is returned to the sender. I believe there is additional information on the info notice/ sticky tag they leave.

yes they will hold it for 5 days..after that sometimes they will send you a postcard reminder to pick it up, but usually they will just send it back to the shipper without notice.

They will hold it 1 day less than you need them to.

They usually hold it for five days, but if you send an email no less than the 4th day asking them to hold it longer, they will. But you must give a specific date - usually only a week longer.

Jof - I have had UPS hold my pickup a few days past what would be the 3rd delivery attempt, as long as I kept in contact with them. Maybe they only do this in larger cities? Just wondering.

THey might hold it longer if it was a pkg that wasn't COD...but not many hubs will if its a COD pkg...now My old driver used to hold it for me past the 3rd del attempt if I left him a note..but it was just a nice driver..

That's what's wierd - I only order if it's a COD - had problems in the past with my CC# and do NOT want to give it out. I use COD with money orders only and both UPS AND FedEx are ALWAYS accomodating.

UPS will hold a COD for 5 business days. I just spoke with them to confirm. That is 5 business days beginning with the 1st day you send to hub (or they return to hub after failed delivery attempts).

When I was running low on cash, (I know this sounds bad) but, I let them attempt to deliver it three times, then after the third attempt, I had five business days to pick it up. That only happened once, and the next time that delivery driver dropped off my package, I had gotten him some gift certificates for McDonalds! lol

no they usually return it on the third attempt but depending on the driver if hes a prick or not he will work w/ you and hold it longer sometimes if you miss the delivery the driver will meet you at his next stop to keep you from driving to the hub we all know we hate messin with those guys they think they know everything and holp up the package sayin i have your narcotics here now isnt that invasion of privacy thats my question since ive stopped driving for ups thats happened to me twice

I know for a fact,,,,,That UPS(if you call them),,,no matter if they know its a COD or not, they will tell you you have 5 bussiness days to receive it,,,,
But that is a HUGE mis-Communication on the Main office and the CS on the phone and the actual drivers and UPS workers who have positions actually in the HUB,,,,or anywhere else for that matter,,,,,,But that is a LIE.
YOU ONLY HAVE 3 Bussiness days to pick-up or recieve a Package that is COD,,,,,if is not you have 5 bussiness days,
They will make no exceptions for the COD, and will only try and delivery or hold them for 3DAYS,,,,,positive.
And I state again.....that if you call them at 1800pickups,,,,and tell tehm"I have a COD package, How long do I have???",,,,,,they will say 5 days no matter what,,,,but they are not informed for some odd reason that this only goes for prepaid packages,,,,,,
So a word to the wise, is all this is,,,,,as I am absolutly positive about this, as I have been screwd by the whole process in the past,,,,,,,hope this helps many.

Have picked up packages that were COD and on the 5th business day of being there more than once, so I believe they do hold them for 5 business days.

It is usually 3 days, and then they return it to the sender. You can call UPS with your tracking number and they will tell you how long you have to pick it up. Here is the number in case you do not have it 1-800-742-5877

Fed-ex and UPS have the same policy... 5 business days unless the shipper requests it otherwise.
